Prudnik can be explored in several ways: a signposted route leads through the city's points of interest, while marked routes in the municipality offer options for cycling, hiking and horse riding. Prudnik lies at the foot of the Opawskie Mountains, a small range in the Eastern Sudetes. This gives you the choice of exploring the town or taking longer routes through the countryside as you plan your trip.
Cultural heritage in Prudnik
The Prudnicki Szlak Miejski is 4.5 kilometres long and leads through the city's most notable places. It is marked with blue and red squares in the city's colours. The Muzeum Ziemi Prudnickiej – Arsenał in Prudnik is another cultural stop. As of 8 September 2026, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 16:00. Opening times may change; check them before your visit.
The Sanctuary of St. Joseph is associated with a specific historical event: Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński was interned there in 1954 and 1955. The site also features in the description of a horse-riding route that runs between Moszczanka and the sanctuary. This makes it possible to combine a cultural and historical stop with a very different kind of exploration.
The Woka Tower is closed indefinitely until the necessary structural repairs are completed. As visitor access may change, check before your planned visit whether the closure is still in effect.
Scenery in the Opawskie Mountains
The municipality of Prudnik lies within the Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park and its buffer zone, directly on the border with the Czech Republic. Its landscape includes the mountain massifs of Góra Parkowa, Długota and Kobylica, as well as Biskupia Kopa, which also forms a distinctive backdrop to Prudnik.
Kobylica is 392 metres high. Above a pond in a former quarry stands a three-metre-high granite obelisk honouring the Romantic poet Joseph von Eichendorff. Here, a striking landscape feature, a former quarry and a literary monument come together.
Marked trails and routes
For cycling, the two “Wokół Lasu Prudnickiego” routes offer different lengths and itineraries. “Pętla I” covers 20 kilometres and runs from Prudnik through Łąka Prudnicka, Moszczanka, Wieszczyna and Dębowiec, returning to Prudnik. “Pętla II” is 13.5 kilometres long and runs from Prudnik via the Sanctuary of St. Joseph, Rozdroże pod Trzebiną and Dębowiec before returning. The second loop is therefore 6.5 kilometres shorter.
The Prudnik–Jindrichov cycling route is 10 kilometres long, 7 of which lie within the municipality of Prudnik. It runs through Dębowiec and across the Polish-Czech border to Jindrichov, and is marked in blue and green. The 15-kilometre Prudnik–Moszna cycling route starts at the Stanisław Szozda roundabout in Prudnik.
There are also options beyond cycling routes: the specially marked horse-riding trail between Moszczanka and the Sanctuary of St. Joseph is 11 kilometres long and marked in yellow. The M. Orłowicz Trail is considered the main trail of the Opawskie Mountains and the Polish Sudetes; its starting point is Prudnik railway station. In addition, the municipality has a 35-kilometre network of multifunctional tourist trails, with signposted routes and numerous rest areas equipped with tourist maps. You can include different routes in your travel plans to suit your preferred activity and distance.
