In Kluczbork, two cycling routes pass through different sequences of places. The 40 km red route, “Welcoming Homesteads,” passes through Kluczbork, Bąków, Brzezinka, Biadacz, Maciejów and Łowkowice. The 44 km yellow route, “Along the Trail of Traditional Crafts and Natural Monuments,” includes Kluczbork, Kuniów, Bażany, Borkowice, Zameczek, Bogacica, Smardy, Krzywizna and Łowkowice. The routes differ in length by four kilometres; the places listed also offer a concrete point of comparison when choosing between them. Route details may change, so check the description before setting out.

Beekeeping at the Jan Dzierżon Museum

The Jan Dzierżon Museum is housed in a former palace listed in the register of monuments. Its permanent exhibition, “Beekeeping: Past and Present,” traces the history of beekeeping from the earliest times to the present day, with particular emphasis on the work and role of Reverend Dzierżon. An outdoor exhibition at the museum complements this historical overview by showing the development of beehives, from tree-trunk hives to box hives. The history of beekeeping and the development of its hives thus offer two distinct perspectives.

The museum’s regular workshop programme includes workshops for children, young people and adults on making candles from beeswax foundation sheets. If you would like to plan a visit around one of these sessions, check current availability beforehand.

Town Discovery Trail and City Park

The discovery trail to Kluczbork’s attractions opened on 13 June 2021. The city park offers another connection to the area’s cultural heritage: it was added to the register of monuments in 1976. The trail and park represent different aspects of the town’s history: a route to local attractions and a park with its own entry in the register.

Cultural Heritage in Kluczbork Municipality

The Wooden Churches Trail is a cultural heritage route in Kluczbork Municipality. On the route through Kluczbork County, Maciejów is the first stop. The wooden church in Maciejów was mentioned as early as 1446. There is also a breeding apiary there, associated with beekeeper Jan Dzierżon.

Another historic landmark in Maciejów is the palace: the Neoclassical building was designed by Carl Gotthard Langhans and dates to around 1790. The palace contains a series of Romantic murals from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The church, beekeeping and architecture thus offer different perspectives on the municipality’s cultural heritage.

Stobrawski Landscape Park is also connected with the municipality, extending into its territory from the Bogacica side. This gives the regional picture a landscape dimension alongside its cultural and historical traces.
