Kozilas is located in the Masovian Voivodeship, in Żuromiński County and the Lubowidz Municipality. When planning your trip, you can consider the village itself and the municipality’s nature and cultural themes at different scales. Landscape, outdoor activities and architectural heritage each offer a distinct focus.

Landscape in the Municipality

The Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Landscape Park lies in the northwestern part of the Lubowidz Municipality. It covers 5,230.1 hectares, around 27.4 percent of the municipality’s area—just over a quarter. To the east, the Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Landscape Park borders the Zieluńsko-Rzęgnowski Protected Landscape Area. Another regional route is the 14.4-kilometre black “Wokół Lasu” trail in Masovia. Together, the four loops near Ruda are about 29 kilometres long, roughly twice the length of this single route.

Marked Loops near Ruda

The Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Nordic Walking Park has four marked trails, intended primarily for Nordic walking. They start at the Ruda forest settlement and form four loops with a combined length of about 29 kilometres.

Before setting out, check which loop fits your available time. This helps you distinguish between the total network length and the route you choose when planning.

Wooden Architecture and Planning Your Visit

The parish church in Lubowidz is considered an important example of Masovian sacred wooden architecture. It is a specific point of interest in the municipality for visitors interested in culture. The church is accessible during Mass or by prior arrangement with the parish priest. Please confirm access with the parish priest well in advance of your visit.

Kozilas’s church affiliation is also part of its local context: Catholic residents of Kozilas belong to the parish of St. Lawrence in Stary Dłutowo. This information helps with orientation, while the wooden parish church is specifically associated with Lubowidz as a cultural attraction. In the surrounding area, two other structures are also listed under monument numbers: a parish church dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk (A-725) and a former mechanical mill at 45 Jagiellońska Street (A-1190). Together with the parish church in Lubowidz, these sites extend the cultural theme from sacred wooden architecture to a former industrial building. Religious architecture and former commercial use thus offer two distinct perspectives on the history of local buildings.

History in Zieluń

The former Jewish cemetery is located in Zieluń. The site is covered by forest, and no physical traces of the cemetery remain there.

The main themes—outdoor activities, architectural heritage and local history—can therefore be explored side by side. Keep the different visitor arrangements in mind: the trails form four loops, while access to the church depends on Mass times or a prior arrangement. Zieluń adds a historical site with no surviving physical traces.
