Four ponds, water basins, and connecting canals shape the park’s water system, which covers about 8.5 hectares. Together with historic park grounds and the exhibition at Muzeum Dulag 121, Pruszków offers a variety of cultural and landscape highlights.

Water Landscapes and Nature in Potulickich Park

Potulickich Park is located in the center of Pruszków. Its water system comprises four ponds, water basins, and connecting canals. The oxbow lake of the Utrata, along with damp reed and sedge beds, provides natural habitats and nesting sites for animals, especially birds. The waterscape and wildlife are therefore both integral to the character of this historic park.

During a walk, educational panels on both sides of the route provide information about the park’s flora and fauna. A five-kilometer run also takes place there every Saturday. Participation is free; advance registration and bringing a printed copy of your individual participation code are required. Check the current arrangements before your visit.

Parks and Architectural History

The Potulicki Palace and Park Complex is the oldest spatial feature of present-day Pruszków. Kościuszko Park is home to the historic Pałacyk “Sokoła,” built in the Neo-Renaissance style in 1867 and protected as a historic monument. Both offer a tangible insight into the city’s history, without requiring a single style or era to define your entire stay.

Kościuszko Park also has a playground for children of different age groups. Check the current condition of the facility before your visit.

Exhibitions and Events

The exhibition at Muzeum Dulag 121 focuses on the accounts of former prisoners and of people who helped them in the camp. Historical photographs, letters, documents, authentic memorabilia, and objects from everyday life in the camp supplement these accounts. The exhibition thus brings together personal stories with written, visual, and material evidence.

The Pruszkowski Festiwal Archeologiczny ARTEfakty is a recurring event; it was first held in 2016. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific event dates.

More Landscapes in the Pruszkowski Destination

The wider Pruszkowski destination offers additional nature-related attractions. The nature trail along the Utrata is suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists. Its facilities include interactive educational stations, bird nesting boxes, insect hotels, and a dendrophone. There is also a free-to-use observation telescope, as well as wooden boardwalks at the ponds.

The parks in Młochów and Pęcice also have their own distinctive features. The park surrounding the palace complex in Młochów covers about 17 hectares; three ponds account for 2.8 hectares of this area and are connected to the Utrata river system. The palace park in Pęcice, designed by Jan Chrystian Schuch, covers 24 hectares. It adjoins a 50-hectare pond area where many species of waterbirds nest. These figures refer to different landscape features and therefore do not allow for a direct size comparison.

When looking for a hotel in Pruszków, you can first decide whether your stay should focus mainly on park landscapes, architectural history, and museums, or also include other themes in the wider Pruszkowski destination.
