Glinianka can be explored from different perspectives: the Regional Chamber combines a collection with workshops, the wooden Church of St. Lawrence dates from 1763, and the Central Trail runs from Wiązowna to Glinianka. The history of the “Święto sójki glinieckiej” is also part of the picture. You can therefore treat local history, practical crafts and the route as separate reasons for your stay.

Regional Chamber: Collection and Workshops

The Regional Chamber is housed in a wooden building dating from the 19th century. It formerly housed the district court, a library and the municipal office. These former uses give the building its own local history, alongside the exhibits: exploring the Regional Chamber means learning about both the building and its collection.

The collection comprises nearly 1,000 exhibits, including everyday objects, folk costumes, tools, historical memorabilia and folk art. Kołbiel paper cutouts are a particular focus; the collection also includes harvest wreaths and holy pictures. The different groups offer ways to explore everyday life, clothing and design: tools and everyday objects sit alongside costumes, religious pictures and folk art.

The Regional Chamber offers museum classes with workshops. These include linen processing, Kołbiel paper cutting, carpentry, making the Sójka Gliniecka and learning folk songs. Alongside exploring the collection, practical subjects are also in focus: textile work, woodworking, paper cutting and folk songs. Visits must be arranged in advance.

The Church and Getting Your Bearings in the Village

The wooden Church of St. Lawrence in Glinianka dates from 1763. The Regional Chamber is housed in a wooden building dating from the 19th century. The Regional Chamber is about 200 metres beyond the church, in the direction of CzarnĂłwek. If you plan to visit both, you can use the church as a landmark for finding the Regional Chamber.

The Central Trail to Glinianka

The Central Trail of the WiÄ…zowna municipality runs from WiÄ…zowna to Glinianka and is 17.8 kilometres long. Its endpoints and length make it a separate planning consideration from the individual cultural attractions in the village. If you include it, check current trail conditions before your trip. This lets you plan the route separately from a visit to the Regional Chamber, which requires advance arrangements.

The SĂłjka Gliniecka as a Local Topic

The Sójka Gliniecka appears in two contexts. Making it is one of the workshops at the Regional Chamber; the “Święto sójki glinieckiej” was established in 2012 at the initiative of Irena Nowak to promote a local product. One context points to a hands-on activity, the other to the history of a promotional initiative. The Sójka Gliniecka can therefore be understood both through how it is made and through the history of efforts to promote the product.
