In Ciechanów, historic buildings and collections meet places for experimenting and the Krubin bathing area. These varied attractions can help you plan your visit: would you like to explore architectural history, try things out for yourself or set aside some time by the water?

Cultural history across several eras

The Museum of the Mazovian Nobility houses collections relating to the history of the Ciechanów region. These include folk sculptures from the collection of Helena and Marian Przedpełski. The museum also presents the exhibition “A Lost World – Traces of Jewish Families in Ciechanów up to 1942,” which explores the traces left by Jewish families in Ciechanów up to 1942.

The Parish Church of St. Joseph was built in the second half of the 14th century next to a medieval castle complex. Inside are historic mementos, commemorative plaques and epitaphs. The Krzywa Hala represents a much later period of construction: this distinctive historic building in the “Bloki” housing estate was built in 1942–1943. Together, the church and the Hala show how far apart the historical periods visible in the city are.

Experiment for yourself and explore the city

At Torus Science Park, visitors can experiment independently and discover laws and relationships. The main subjects are physics, mathematics, technology and architecture. This gives the park a different focus from the historical collections: here, visitors can try things out for themselves and explore different fields of knowledge.

Smaller spots around the city also offer specific points of interest. The Green Maze on Skwer 4 czerwca 1989 roku, on Fabryczna Street, is open to visitors. Its winding paths are one metre wide and arranged in a triangular shape; check its current condition before your visit. At the intersection of Fabryczna and Sienkiewicza streets stands a locomotive with an information board about the history of the narrow-gauge railway. A section of track, paths, benches and litter bins have also been installed there.

Water activities and a cycle route to the Krubin bathing area

Water sports are available at the Krubin bathing area, as are kayak and pedal boat rentals. A sandy beach and a bathing area round out the facilities. As bathing facilities and seasonal services may change, it is advisable to check the current conditions before your visit.

A cycle route leads from the centre of Ciechanów to Krubin, where there is a city bike rental station. This is a practical option if you would like to add cycling and time by the water to your city break. Plan your activities to suit the time you have, without treating a visit to the bathing area as a substitute for the cultural and historical sights.

Opinogóra as a regional cultural highlight

The Museum of Romanticism in Opinogóra offers guided tours, museum classes and hands-on workshops. The Ciechanów–Opinogóra route in Ciechanów County is also designed as a two-day weekend itinerary. It combines a search for the treasure of the Mazovian princes with the theme of Romanticism, giving your plans a distinct regional focus.

When choosing a hotel, you can first decide which of these attractions you would like to shape your stay: the city’s history and architecture, independent experimentation, the route to Krubin or the regional offerings in Opinogóra.
