Dlugie lies on an isthmus between Lakes Dołgie and Lipie. Water therefore shapes both the location of the village and several of the named routes. The area also features wooded moraine hills, walking and cycling routes, and traces of manor-house and castle history. If you are considering Dlugie as a travel destination, you can choose your focus from these different themes.

Lakes, shores and landscape

Dlugie lies between high moraine hills covered with mixed and pine forest. Lake Lipie has steep shores and numerous bays. The lake near Dlugie lies within a protected landscape area established in the Drawa Heath. The waterside landscape and protected surroundings thus sit side by side, although the routes through this landscape do not all follow the same course.

There is an organized, publicly accessible bathing area on Lake Lipie. On the southern shore are a bathing area, a bathing pier and a 1.1-hectare sandy beach. Check current bathing conditions before planning a day at the beach. There is also a diving centre at the lake, which divers visit during the summer season. Diving is therefore a distinct focus alongside a stay at the beach.

Waterways and walking or cycling routes

The “Lubuskie Mazury” waterway begins in Dlugie at Lake Lipie. It passes through the isthmus to Lake Słowa and continues along a canal to Lake Osiek. A separate historical development concerns the canals of the Dobiegniew Lakeland: at the beginning of the 21st century, neglected canals were made navigable again, and a 75-kilometre waterway with information boards and maps was established.

Those wishing to explore on foot can take a blue hiking trail called “Zaczarowanych Panien z Burgwall”. It is 12.5 kilometres long, starts in Dlugie and goes around Lakes Lipie, Słowa and Kokno. Another marked hiking trail runs from Dlugie around the “Mszar Przygiełkowy - Długie im. Huberta Jurczyszyna” nature reserve. The length and sequence of lakes provide clear guidance on the first trail; the second focuses on the named protected area.

The 27.5-kilometre “Poznański szlak” cycling route runs from Strzelce Kraj. to Dlugie. Along the way, it passes the shores of smaller and larger bodies of water. Its course differs from the hike around three lakes: the cycling route connects two places, while the blue hiking trail starts in Dlugie and goes around the lakes named above.

Manor-house park and historical traces

Dlugie’s manor-house park covers 11 hectares and preserves an avenue of lime and horse chestnut trees. The manor barn is also part of the area’s architectural history: it was built in the Neoclassical style in the 1820s, and the original design of its front façade has been preserved.

Northwest of Dlugie, on the isthmus between Lipie and Słowa, stands a castle hill. It is probably located on the site of an earlier fortification; in the Middle Ages, it was the site of a castle belonging to the von Bornstedt family. The lake itself also has a historical discovery associated with it: divers found a 16th-century axe in Lake Lipie at a depth of 40 metres.

Travel planning

Dlugie lies on national road 22 along the Gorzów–Dobiegniew–Gdańsk route. When planning your trip, you can consider the area’s different themes: the beach and diving centre are associated with Lake Lipie, the named waterways follow their respective watercourses, and the hiking and cycling routes differ in length and course. This lets you decide in advance which of these aspects is most important to your stay.
