In Landsberg on the Warthe (Gorzów Wielkopolski), cobblestones, brick and parks reveal different sides of the city. On the Old Market Square, plaques set into the paving commemorate artists and cultural figures from Gorzów Wielkopolski who have passed away as part of the Gorzów Avenue of Stars. This glimpse into the city’s cultural memory is a good starting point for further discoveries.

Old Market Square and historic architecture

The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary is a red-brick building dating from the 13th century. Next to it, on the Old Market Square, stands the fountain named after Hermann Paucksch. Another architectural attraction is the historic white Spichlerz (Granary): this three-storey half-timbered building dates from 1723. The three structures offer contrasting features—from medieval brickwork and the fountain on the market square to an 18th-century half-timbered building.

Art, cinema and philharmonic hall

The Miejski Ośrodek Sztuki organizes contemporary art exhibitions and operates an art-house cinema. It also has a distinctive collection: with 31 works by Władysław Hasior, the institution holds the second-largest collection of his work in Poland. This combines an exhibition program with a clearly defined focus on a single artist.

The Filharmonia Gorzowska also has a distinct place in the city’s cultural life: it is the newest cultural institution in Gorzów Wielkopolski. Its modern building has a glass façade, and the concert hall’s acoustics are considered among the best in Poland. Art, film and music are therefore presented as different options, without requiring you to limit your visit to a single cultural field.

Parks with different characters

Park Kopernika preserves traces of a former city cemetery: the park is on its grounds, where an Evangelical chapel dating from the late 19th century remains. Park Czechówek has a different landscape, with a distinctly woodland character and a spring-fed pond. Park Siemiradzkiego offers further points of interest: it is the city’s oldest park and has an amphitheater and a viewing point.

The parks also serve different purposes. Park Górczyński has walking paths, children’s playgrounds, a street-workout area and a sand volleyball court. Park Słowiański has a ropes course, boules, footpaths and a downhill track. The options range from historic traces and a spring-fed pond to specific opportunities for recreation and exercise. As individual facilities may change, check their availability before visiting.

Routes and practical information

For walking and cycling, the Szlak Stolic offers a specific section in Gorzów Wielkopolski: since 2019, it has extended for more than 700 meters there. The section connects to the eastern part of the boulevard and runs as far as the Lubuski Bridge. A municipal tourism map from 2019 also shows hiking, cycling and horseback-riding routes in Gorzów and neighboring municipalities. Check the conditions on individual routes before setting out.

The tourist information office on the Old Market Square in the city center offers city maps and guides, information about cultural events, help with booking accommodation, and promotional materials about the region. From May to September, it is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; from October to April, Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check opening hours before your visit.
