The Park Rekreacji ZOOM NATURY covers more than ten hectares; at the same time, the historic Market Square, the Marian Shrine and the Janowskie Stoki spring area reveal different sides of Janów. When planning a trip, the question is which focus to choose: leisure activities, religious and urban history, or nature and local customs.

Leisure activities at Park Rekreacji ZOOM NATURY

The Park Linowy high ropes course offers three routes with different heights and numbers of obstacles. The green route runs at a height of three to eight metres and has 14 obstacles. The blue route has 16 obstacles. The red route, described as the most difficult, runs at a height of eight to twelve metres and has 17 obstacles. These specific details help visitors compare the courses described.

The park also includes Park Kreatywny, with inflatable attractions, trampolines, a sandbox and foam elements for children aged two to 13. Other activities each have their own focus: the Exit Room has the “Crazy 80s” and “The Enchanted Cellar” rooms. Laser Tag is played with infrared beams, while Archer Tag is a team game played with bows and arrows with foam tips. At the “Exotic Animals” workshop, animators introduce live animals. The programme described therefore ranges from climbing routes and physical activity to games and an animal workshop.

Town history, museum and Marian Shrine

The Regional Museum features indoor and outdoor exhibitions on the historical and cultural heritage of the Janów area, the Lublin region and Poland. It also offers archaeological and ethnographic workshops, outdoor games and workshops with craftspeople. So, alongside viewing the exhibitions, the programme includes hands-on and interactive ways to learn.

The Rynek Starego Miasta (Old Town Market Square) was laid out according to a Renaissance plan in the spirit of the ideal city, based on the town plan of Zamość. Four fountains in the square symbolise Janów’s traditional crafts. The Marian Shrine reveals another facet of the town’s history: the church and Dominican monastery date from 1694 to 1720 and were founded by the Zamoyski family. The Dominican Church of St John the Baptist retains its Baroque character. Notable features of its interior include Rococo altars and a Rococo pulpit, a 19-stop organ and a baptismal font dating from 1870.

The Marian Shrine includes the Chapel of the Apparition, frequently visited by pilgrims and tourists. It houses a 17th-century statue of the Virgin Mary with the Child; a spring rises beneath the statue. The Photography Museum in Janów Lubelski was registered in 2014 and comprises three exhibition rooms, a darkroom and a museum gallery.

Spring area and railway heritage

Janowskie Stoki is a natural spring area and a unique natural monument in the centre of Janów Lubelski. Local customs are associated with the site. This connection between landscape and local customs offers a different way to experience Janów from its architectural and museum history.

On the outskirts of the town, beside the forestry administration office, there is an open-air museum of the forest narrow-gauge railway. The railway’s history also extends beyond Janów Lubelski: until 1952, it connected Lipa with Biłgoraj and ran through the entire Janów Forest complex. A remaining section of the narrow-gauge railway in the forest was used until 1984, when railway operations there ceased.

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Janów, you can choose your preferred focus: urban and religious history, nature and local customs, or the range of leisure activities.
