Zalew Sulistrowicki is a picturesque reservoir in Sulistrowice, within the municipality of Sobótka and the Ślężański Landscape Park. In addition to the scenery, trails near the water and through the village, along with several historic sites, offer different points of interest for a stay. When planning your trip, you can therefore give different weight to nature and local history.

Reservoir and trails: activities with clear points of reference

The area around Zalew Sulistrowicki offers opportunities for walking, cycling, swimming and fishing. It is important to note the local restriction when planning: swimming is prohibited in the bathing area. Hiking and cycling trails run right by the reservoir, leading, among other places, to Ślęża, Wieżyca and the Rezerwat Góra Radunia nature reserve. These destinations provide concrete points of reference if you are interested in trails around the water.

A red-marked hiking trail passes through Sulistrowice and runs from Łagiewniki via Ślęża to Sobótka. One route leads from Zalew Sulistrowicki to Ślęża. This gives you different routes to consider when planning: a trail with named endpoints that passes through the village, and trails right by the reservoir. Check current route conditions before setting out.

In winter, the area by the town beach at Zalew Sulistrowicki becomes a local meeting place for ice bathing. This adds a distinct winter theme to the landscape. A description from 2025 names a local association from Sulistrowice as the maintainer of the singletrack in the Ślęża Massif. Check current availability and access conditions before visiting.

Architecture, trees and the memory of 1813

The Neo-Gothic parish church of Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa was built in Sulistrowice in 1932. The historic avenue of small-leaved lindens along ulica Jagiellońska 2–2A offers another connection to the village. The trees are said to be over 140 years old and 25 to 30 metres tall. At the entrance to the village also stands a monumental English oak with a trunk circumference of 4.6 metres, known as dąb szubieniczny.

South of Sulistrowice, an obelisk stands in the Wzgórza Oleszeńskie at an altitude of 382 metres. It commemorates the Lützow Corps’ fight against Napoleonic troops in 1813. The historic points of interest are distinct: the parish church represents Neo-Gothic architecture, the avenue of lindens and the oak are notable natural monuments, and the obelisk commemorates a specific military conflict.

Tailor your stay to your interests

When looking for a hotel in Sulistrowice, you can first consider which of these themes you want to shape your stay. If nature and outdoor activities are your priority, the trails by Zalew and the hiking trail through the village offer different points of reference. If you are more interested in architecture and history, the church, the avenue of lindens, the oak and the obelisk offer a range of themed destinations. This lets you choose where to stay based on your travel interests, rather than treating all activities as one unified itinerary.

If you are planning to hike, take the route and current conditions into account. The red-marked hiking trail has a specified route from Łagiewniki via Ślęża to Sobótka; trails right by Zalew lead, among other places, to Wieżyca and the Rezerwat Góra Radunia nature reserve. In winter, ice bathing at the town beach is a seasonal point of interest.
