Discover Prusice through its striking contrasts: the town hall combines Gothic features with a later Renaissance renovation, while the parish church houses a Baroque tomb chapel. A granite glacial erratic on Aleja Lipowa links measurable depressions with a legend. Recurring events in summer and around Easter round out the picture. This gives you a choice for planning your trip between architecture, local folklore and seasonal occasions—and a concrete starting point for looking for a holiday rental.

Town Hall: Features from Two Eras

Prusice Town Hall has Gothic features and volute gables dating from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. After a fire in 1529, it was renovated in the Renaissance style. This sequence helps put the building's history into context: the Gothic features belong to an earlier period, while the renovation represents the later Renaissance design. Volute gables are curved gable forms and add a distinctive architectural detail to the description of the town hall.

The Renaissance tower is 39 metres high, with 142 steps leading to the top, where panoramic views extend over the town and its surroundings. The tower is currently closed to visitors for technical reasons. The description of the view therefore refers to the tower and the panorama it offers, not to a visit that is currently possible.

Tomb Chapel and St Jadwiga's Stone

The Baroque tomb chapel of Count Melchior von Hatzfeld is located in the Parish Church of St James the Apostle. It is considered one of the finest works of Poland's 17th-century “Golden Baroque.” Prusice thus brings together different art-historical highlights: the town hall's history, spanning Gothic features and a Renaissance renovation, and the Baroque design of the tomb chapel.

St Jadwiga's Stone is a granite glacial erratic on Aleja Lipowa. It has a depression measuring 10 × 17 cm and 3–8 cm deep, resembling a footprint. Next to it is an irregular depression measuring 2.5 cm in diameter. According to legend, the marks were left by St Jadwiga and her dog's paw. The measurements and resemblance describe the visible shapes; interpreting them as footprints is part of local folklore.

Summer and Easter Events

Dni Prusic is a recurring summer event held in the market square. Its programme includes cultural and sporting activities, dance events, performances by local groups and concerts by popular artists. The festival brings together several types of activities rather than focusing on just one. No specific dates are provided; if you want to plan your trip around Dni Prusic, check the event date in advance.

The Easter Market is also held in the market square, but takes place every year around Easter. The two events therefore fall in different seasons: summer for Dni Prusic and Easter for the market.

When to Visit and Finding Accommodation

For planning purposes, it helps to distinguish between the historical and cultural attractions and the seasonal events. The town hall, tomb chapel and glacial erratic represent architecture and local folklore; Dni Prusic and the Easter Market provide specific occasions to plan around. If a festival is the main reason for your trip, plan your search around the relevant season and check the exact date. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Prusice, these interests can be a starting point: first decide whether the buildings and the stone or one of the events will be the focus of your stay.
