Świebodzice brings together buildings from different eras, protected landscapes, and routes to notable destinations. Several routes lead from the town center to Książ Castle; another passes through Pełcznica to the ruins of Cisy Castle. Cycling routes also have different focuses: one highlights an MTB trail, while another explores the region’s textile industry history.

Landscape and Nature in Świebodzice

Książański Landscape Park also extends into the municipality of Świebodzice. The Przełomy pod Książem Nature Reserve lies within the municipalities of Wałbrzych and Świebodzice and protects sections of the Pełcznica and Szczawnik rivers. The two protected areas therefore have different geographical scopes: the landscape park extends into the municipality, while the nature reserve spans two municipalities and specific stretches of river.

The yew tree Bolko in the Pełcznica district is a specific natural landmark within the town. Its age is estimated at around 600 years. It complements the wider landscape features with a single, clearly located tree. If you’re choosing places to visit based on nature, you can therefore distinguish between the protected areas and this remarkable tree.

Architectural History in the Town Center

The Świebodzice Town Hall is an early Neoclassical building. It was built between 1789 and 1791 to a design by the architect Christian Friedrich Schultze. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul represents a different type of building from the late 18th century: it is Late Baroque and was built between 1776 and 1779 as a Protestant church.

St. Nicholas Church in the historic center is Gothic and was given a Baroque makeover. Taken together, these buildings offer different ways to explore the town’s history: the town hall and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul date from the late 18th century, while St. Nicholas Church combines Gothic and Baroque influences. Stone sections of the town walls have also been preserved along Piłsudskiego Street. Parts of the walls were reconstructed in the 20th century; this more recent layer of construction is also part of their history.

Routes to Książ Castle and Cisy Castle

Książ Castle is right next to Świebodzice, and several routes lead there from the town center. If you choose the ruins of Cisy Castle instead, take a route through Pełcznica. There, it joins the green-marked Piast Castles Trail. The routes thus differ in their destinations and courses: several lead to the castle from the center, while the Cisy route connects Pełcznica with the named hiking trail. Check trail conditions before setting off.

Cycling Routes with Different Focuses

The Wokół Wilczej Góry cycling route is an MTB trail that passes through the town of Świebodzice. The Szlak Tkaczy takes a different approach: it starts in Świebodzice, and its name refers to the textile industry traditions of Świebodzice and Kamienna Góra. The two routes therefore have distinct themes: an MTB trail through the town and a route whose name references the textile history of both places.

The black Droga Węglowa (K3) cycling route is planned to pass through Świebodzice; most of it is expected to follow field tracks in the Sudeten Foothills. Check the current signage before setting off on this route. The cycling routes can thus be distinguished by their described features: the MTB character of Wokół Wilczej Góry, the cultural connection of Szlak Tkaczy, and the planned field-track route of Droga Węglowa.
