In Bad Landeck, the local selection offers several clearly distinct perspectives: spa history at Zdrój Wojciech and along the park axis, sacred architecture in an early Baroque chapel, as well as a described walk and the arboretum. If you are planning a stay, you can first decide whether architectural history, a specifically described route, or the arboretum’s elevation should be your main focus.

Spa architecture and the park axis

ZdrĂłj Wojciech was built in 1680 and remodelled in 1880 in its present-day Neo-Baroque style. The dates mark two phases: its construction and a later redesign, rather than a single date of origin. As the Wojciech spa treatment building, it is among the oldest surviving spa buildings in Silesia, as well as among the most magnificent and beautiful buildings of its kind.

The present layout of Parku Zdrojowy follows a main axis laid out in the 1930s. It connects Zdrój Wojciech with the indoor swimming pool. The park’s design thus links two specific buildings along an architectural line.

An early Baroque chapel

The early Baroque Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Pustkowie in Lądek-Zdrój is distinguished by the exceptional originality of its architectural composition and its outstanding artistic value. In contrast with the Neo-Baroque remodelling of Zdrój Wojciech, these represent distinct architectural influences: the early Baroque chapel and the spa building’s later appearance.

Drinking hall and springs

Zdrój Wojciech has a publicly accessible drinking hall with the “Zdzisław” and “Maria Skłodowska-Curie” springs. The water served there is weakly mineralised, contains fluoride and sulphides, is radon-bearing, and is thermal. Check the current operating arrangements directly before visiting.

A walk and the location by Trojak

A route description from the Centrum Kultury i Rekreacji dated 16 November 2020 follows the blue-marked spa route No. 9. It describes the walk as easy and says that the route is mostly paved. Check the markings and surface conditions on site if you plan to follow this route.

The municipal tourism information, updated in February 2020, places Stacja Narciarska LÄ…dek ZdrĂłj within LÄ…dek-ZdrĂłj, 300 m from the spa district, on the northern slopes of the 766 m-high Trojak. The location, distance from the spa district, and height of Trojak answer different orientation questions. If you include the station in your plans, check its current operating status directly.

Putting the arboretum in context by elevation and area

The arboretum in Lądek-Zdrój lies at an elevation of 475 to 500 m and covers just over 2 hectares. It is considered the highest-altitude arboretum of its kind in Poland. Elevation and area describe different measures: the elevation indicates the site’s position, while the area indicates its size. Comparing it with other arboreta also puts it in context beyond Bad Landeck.

The options offer specific distinctions to help you choose what interests you: the spa buildings and park axis provide an architectural focus, the chapel an early Baroque one, while the information about the route, Trojak, and the arboretum helps you consider the walk, location, and elevation separately.
