The palace and park complex, the richly decorated balconies of the Tiroler houses and several hiking trails give Mysłakowice a range of different ways to shape your stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Mysłakowice, you can plan your trip around whether palace history, architecture or trails are your priority. The historic sites and distinctive rock formations and structures offer a variety of themes for exploring the area.

Palace history and distinctive structures

In 1821, the palace passed into the possession of the Prussian King Frederick William III, who designated it as his summer residence. Between 1842 and 1844, it was given its Neo-Gothic architectural style. These are two distinct historical milestones: the transfer of ownership and its designation as a summer residence, followed by its later Neo-Gothic design. As part of the palaces and landscape parks of the Jelenia Góra Valley, the palace and park complex of Mysłakowice holds Pomnik Historii (Historical Monument) status.

The Tiroler houses also shape the area’s architectural character, with their richly decorated balconies. A monument to Johann Fleidl stands in a schoolyard in the park area of Mysłakowice. Fleidl came from the Zillertal and was a leader. Alongside the palace’s history, the houses and Fleidl’s origins therefore stand out as distinct aspects of the area.

At previous editions of Dni Kościoła, residents and tourists were able to visit parts of the Church of the Sacred Heart that are not normally accessible during regular visits. This opportunity was tied to the event. If you are interested in these particular areas, check in advance whether a suitable date has been announced.

An unusual exhibit is the jawbone of a Greenland whale, located at the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury in Mysłakowice. If you would like to include this location in your plans, check in advance what visiting options are available.

Rock formations and hiking trails

Sowi Kamień is a small, weathered rock with aplite veins. It lies on the southeastern slope of Mrowiec, a little below the summit. Another kind of distinctive site is Kamienna Altana, just below the summit of Krzyżowa Góra: a granite slab rests on three granite columns, with a stone cross erected above it in 1874. Sowi Kamień is described as a rock formation, while Kamienna Altana stands out for its structure and the cross.

The trail endpoints also help with orientation. The green-marked “Droga Królewska” trail runs from the palace in Mysłakowice to the palace in Karpniki. Another, black-marked hiking trail runs from the railway station to the palace and connects the red and green trails. The routes described therefore differ both in their markings and in their destinations. The markings and trail conditions on the black-marked route may change, so check the current situation before setting out. Karpniki is the endpoint to include in your plans for the Droga Królewska.

Choosing between palace history, architecture and marked trails can help you decide what to focus on during your stay. If you plan to visit a special exhibit or areas of the church that are not normally accessible, it is also worth checking the relevant visiting options or event dates.
