A historic travel palace, a renovated old-town street and a rose festival with its own exhibition give Kutno several distinct points of interest. Highlights range from architectural history and museums to literary festivals and sport.

Architectural History and City Life

The Pałac Saski in Kutno was built in 1750 at the commission of King Augustus III as a post and travel palace. As a surviving architectural testament to the Polish-Saxon union, it connects a specifically documented former function with a broader historical context. Another architectural highlight is the Zespół Pałacowy Gierałty. The comprehensive revitalisation of the complex was completed in 2019. Its salon retains wooden wall panelling and a fireplace. While the Pałac Saski is chiefly defined by its year of construction and original purpose, the panelling and fireplace draw attention to the preserved interior design.

In Kutno’s old town, the renovated Królewska Street and Plac Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego are popular spots for walks and relaxation. The restored Neoclassical town hall houses the Regional Museum, where memorabilia and documents relating to the city’s history are on display. Kutno’s former municipal theatre is now the Centrum Teatru, Muzyki i Tańca (Centre for Theatre, Music and Dance). Thus, alongside its buildings and museum collections, Kutno also offers a cultural venue focused on theatre, music and dance.

The Rose Festival and Literature

In Kutno, the Święto Róży (Rose Festival) is organised annually by the Kutnowski Dom Kultury and features roses and floral arrangements. The festival’s main feature since 1975 has been the Wystawa Róż (Rose Exhibition). The exhibition is therefore the centrepiece of a visit during the Rose Festival.

Several literary events provide further cultural highlights. Kutno hosts the long-running, nationwide Festiwal Jeremiego Przybory „Stacja Kutno“. The literary Festiwal im. Szaloma Asza, organised by the Municipal and County Library, commemorates the Jewish writer Szalom Asz, who was born in Kutno. Festiwal Złoty Środek Poezji includes a competition for debut poetry collections, which the city describes as currently the largest in the country. The Rose Festival and literary events thus offer distinct cultural highlights.

Leisure and Sport

Aquapark Kutno has a sports pool, a leisure pool, a climbing wall, two indoor water slides, a sauna, a steam room, a bowling alley, and fitness and squash rooms. The facility therefore combines water-based activities with other indoor and exercise options. Facilities may change; check which amenities are available before planning your visit.

Kutno is also home to the Little League regional training centre for baseball and softball, which covers 18 hectares on Kościuszki Street. The baseball complex has two floodlit stadiums, each with seating for 2,000 spectators, as well as several training fields. The facility adds a distinct dimension to Kutno’s sporting profile alongside its cultural and urban attractions.
