Bełchatów can be explored through its city history, an interactive exhibition about energy, and three trails with different themes. Notable points of interest lie in and near the city centre; at the same time, a green corridor along the Rakówka connects several districts with the centre. Culture, finding your way around the city, and the different trail themes thus sit side by side, without needing to be combined into a single outing.

City History and Energy

PGE Giganty Mocy is located in the centre of Bełchatów, at the revitalised plac Narutowicza. The interactive exhibition covers the formation of lignite, its combustion, and the generation of electrical energy. It thus takes visitors from the raw material through its use to electricity. Those interested in energy and how it is produced will find a different focus here than at the city’s historic buildings.

The Dworek Olszewskich, near the centre at 11 Rodziny-Hellwigów Street, dates from the 18th century. The Rychłowski family had the late Baroque building constructed in the first half of that century. Original interior features have been preserved, including a fireplace, patterned mosaic parquet flooring, and decorated doors. These details give the building a distinctive architectural character alongside its historical significance. PGE Giganty Mocy and the Dworek thus represent two different themes: energy and city history on the one hand, and architecture and historic interior design on the other.

The green corridor along the Rakówka offers another way to find your bearings. It provides a route for pedestrians and cyclists between Binków, Słoneczne, Edwardów, Okrzei and Budowlanych, and the city centre. The named districts and the centre are the endpoints of this connection; the description does not provide a specific journey time. For finding your way around the city, its function as a route for two modes of transport is particularly relevant.

Three Trails with Different Themes

Each of the three tourist trails has its own focus. “Bełchatów wczoraj i dziś” is four kilometres long and designed to explore the history of Bełchatów. The 3.8-kilometre family trail “Bełchatów pełen dobrej energii” is presented as an option for the whole family. “Energia jest tu” combines sport and recreation over 5.6 kilometres and provides access to a skatepark and a pump track. The trails therefore differ mainly in their themes: city history, a family focus, or sport and leisure.

Their lengths can also be compared directly: they range from 3.8 to 4 to 5.6 kilometres. The city’s route description, published on 25 June 2025, names Jabłoniowy Sad as the destination of all three tourist trails. So, alongside their different themes, they share a common destination. If you are planning to use the trail information for a specific visit, it is a good idea to check the latest descriptions in advance.
