Klecza Górna can be explored through its architectural history, religious traditions and hiking. The manor house and Marian chapels provide historical highlights; the yellow hiking trail leads over Jaroszowicka Mountain to Gorzeń Górny. This allows you to plan your visit around cultural interests or as the starting point for a hike, and deliberately choose between these different focuses.

Manor House and Wincenty Pol

The manor house in Klecza Górna was completed in 1883 in the eclectic style. It is associated with Wincenty Pol, who hid there in 1833–1834. Pol later became a geographer and professor at Jagiellonian University. The architecture and biographical episode give the building two distinct historical points of reference.

Two Marian Chapels

The column chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes dates from 1881. Its square sandstone column bears figures of saints. It stands beside a road on private property, opposite the manor house fence. Another Marian chapel is house-shaped and also stands on private property. It contains an image of Our Lady of Częstochowa and is dated to around 1846. According to tradition, the image dates from the time the chapel was founded; May devotions are still held at the chapel today.

The two chapels also differ in their design: one is distinguished by its sandstone column and figures of saints, the other by its house-shaped form and traditional image. When planning your visit, bear in mind that both stand on private property.

Hiking Trail over Jaroszowicka Mountain

The yellow hiking trail connects Klecza Górna with Gorzeń Górny via Jaroszowicka Mountain and passes a single-storey brick palace dating from 1883 in the village. The route thus combines a distinctive architectural form with a hiking connection between the places mentioned. As trail conditions can change, check the current conditions before setting out.

Wadowice: More Cultural and Leisure Ideas

If you also include Wadowice in your travel plans, you will find other highlights there. The center of Wadowice lies between the Skawa River and the Choczenka watercourse. The Marcin Wadowita Municipal Museum displays historical collections from the Wadowice area as well as temporary exhibitions, many of them related to Karol Wojtyła. The museum in Pope John Paul II’s family home presents a permanent exhibition and also welcomes visitors for individual tours.

Two routes through Wadowice offer different historical perspectives. The Karol Wojtyła Route is about 4.5 km long and leads to 14 sites associated with the childhood and youth of Saint John Paul II. Galicyjskie Wadowice is about 5 km long and includes 13 sites relating to the city’s history during the Partitions of Poland. The Karol Wojtyła Route is therefore a little shorter but has one more site; when choosing, you can take both the theme and route length into account.

For a sporting activity, Wadowice’s pump track offers loops for beginners and advanced riders, adapted to different difficulty levels; use is free. Wadowice Trails is a complex of mountain bike singletracks in the forested area of Jaroszowicka Góra, designed for beginners, families with children and advanced mountain bikers. Wadowice cream cake adds a culinary highlight, which visitors can sample in the market square in Wadowice.
