Ząb combines a specific cultural and historical connection with walking paths and a wide-ranging panorama. The wooden Church of St. Anne, the Zbójnicek regional ensemble and the various routes give you different starting points for planning. There is also a view that stretches from the Tatra Mountains to other mountain ranges and landscapes. This lets you tailor your stay to the themes that matter to you: local history, walks with clearly indicated directions, or sweeping views of the landscape.
Church and Local History
The Zbójnicek regional ensemble was founded in Ząb in 1964 by Maria Stoch. Its founding by Maria Stoch gives the ensemble a clear connection to local history. Another historical landmark is the wooden Church of St. Anne. It was consecrated on September 15, 1921; the main altar was created by Wojciech Brzega. Chronologically, the church’s consecration predates the ensemble’s founding. The two subjects therefore represent different historical points of reference: the founding of a regional ensemble and the construction and furnishings of a specific place of worship. If you would like to include culture and local history in your stay, you can consider each as a distinct focus.
Panoramas Beyond the Tatra Mountains
The panorama is not limited to the Tatra Mountains. From Ząb, the view extends to the Tatra Mountains, the Babia Góra Massif and the Orawa region, as well as the Gorce Mountains with Turbacz and the Pieniny Mountains. This breadth is a useful point of reference when choosing where to stay: alongside the Tatra Mountains are several clearly named landscapes and mountain ranges that extend the view beyond a single destination. If the landscape is a deciding factor in your choice of location, this focus is clearly different from the local history found in the church and ensemble.
Walks and Hiking Trail
When considering the routes, it is worth first distinguishing between their landmarks. One walking path leads from the church toward the cemetery, then continues along the ridge toward Tatarów. Another route passes through Ząb in the direction of Gubałówka. The green PTTK-marked Zakopane–Kotelnica–Szaflary D47 hiking trail also passes through the village. If you are looking for a walk with specific local landmarks, the first two routes offer different directions; if you would like to include a named, green-marked hiking trail, you can follow the D47.
Ski Tow and Cultural Walking Trail
The Potoczki ski tow and the playground also offer different points of interest. The tow is on the eastern side of Ząb at an altitude of 980 m; check whether it is operating seasonally during your travel dates before visiting. The playground in Ząb is part of a cultural walking trail. Its landscape architecture elements draw on the traditional agriculture of the Gorals. If you plan to visit the playground specifically, check its condition before you go.
