Jachówka lies in the Beskids at the northern foothills of Makowska Góra and along the Jachówka River. The landscape is shaped by extensive forests, diverse vegetation and clean air. It is also home to religious buildings from different periods, a described walking route and a documented regional food tradition. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, your choice of location may depend on whether you are primarily interested in the landscape, local cultural heritage or a longer walk. As a geographical reference point, Jachówka lies on the road between Sucha Beskidzka and Myślenice.
Church and Chapels in Jachówka
The parish Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built of brick in 1938. There are side chapels on both sides of the nave: one is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, the other to the Holy Sepulchre. The altars are finished in white and gold, combining pronounced folk features with Baroque and Rococo elements. The wooden statues of saints include furnishings dating from the Second World War. Together, these details describe both the church’s construction history and its distinctive interior.
Other chapels are scattered across different parts of the village. Działy is home to a brick chapel built in 1957. The brick chapel at Kachnicówka features an image of the Holy Trinity and a statue of the Virgin Mary; numerous wall paintings depict saints. Near Głowaczówka stands a brick Marian chapel dating from the 20th century. Their different locations and construction dates provide several distinct points of reference in the village’s religious history.
Smaller roadside monuments are also among the cultural sites described here. Near Prymulówka stands an early-20th-century wooden cross depicting the Crucified Christ. A wayside Madonna and Child dates from 1830; it stands on a column decorated with reliefs of saints. These examples differ from the chapels in their form and location, adding to the picture of religious art in the village.
Walking Route, Regional Food and Activities
The Szlak Pamięci Znanych Ludzi Gminy Budzów is described as a walking route with five information boards. A 2020 report places the main board, which includes a map of the entire route and descriptions of four well-known residents, by the fire station and playground in Jachówka. The report gave an approximate walking time of two hours at a leisurely pace; the actual duration may vary depending on trail conditions. Check locally whether the boards are still there and what condition they are in.
Another aspect of local tradition is the history of KGW Jachówka at the district competition for regional food, “O Złotą Warzechę.” The group took first place in 2002, 2005 and 2007. In 2012, it came third with pierogi filled with buckwheat groats. This result tells a story of regional food traditions, but does not indicate that food or workshops are currently offered.
For a different kind of local activity, the Jachówka part of the village has a grass football pitch and a beach volleyball court by the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury. So, alongside the landscape and cultural heritage, there are two specific sports facilities to add to your map of the area. The historic chapels, the prominent parish church and the approximately two-hour walking route offer different focal points when planning your stay.
