Żegiestów offers a variety of ways to enjoy nature and cultural discoveries. The blue hiking trail leads from Żegiestów-Zdrój to the Bacówka PTTK nad Wierchomlą mountain hut; in the spa area, a walking path about half a kilometre long leads to the “Anna” drinking hall. The “Łopata Polska” nature trail runs along the riverbank. The Poprad and its gorge, along with two churches, offer other possible points of interest.

Trails with different points of interest

The blue hiking trail leads from Żegiestów-Zdrój over forested ascents and clearings, as well as through the area around Pusta Wielka and Wyżnie Młaki, to the Bacówka PTTK nad Wierchomlą mountain hut. The route therefore has a clearly named destination and passes through a variety of landscapes. Check trail conditions before setting out, and plan your return transport as well.

A shorter walking path runs through the spa area of Żegiestów-Zdrój to the “Anna” drinking hall; it is about half a kilometre long. Unlike the route to the mountain hut, it ends at a specific destination in the spa area. Check access to the drinking hall before your visit.

The “Łopata Polska” nature trail offers a different focus: it runs along the riverbank and combines walking with nature education and outdoor recreation. Alongside the hike to a named destination and the walk to the drinking hall, this offers another way to spend time outdoors: a riverside stroll with nature interpretation.

The Poprad and outdoor activities

In the Żegiestów-Zdrój area, the Poprad forms a gorge and is also a Polish-Slovak border river. Here, the river and the border location are part of the same landscape. Canoe and pontoon trips on the Poprad are another option in the area. Check in advance whether a trip is available on your preferred date. A ski lift is also counted among Żegiestów’s attractions. If you plan to include it, check its current operating status and access before your visit.

Churches and architectural history

The former Greek Catholic Church of St. Anne and St. Michael the Archangel in Żegiestów was built between 1917 and 1925 in the ecclesiastical building tradition. The masonry building, made of stone and brick, has a cruciform ground plan, a nave and two sacristy extensions. Visitors interested in church architecture can consider several features together: the ground plan as well as the nave and sacristies. The construction dates place the building in its historical context, while its materials and form describe its specific architecture.

Another church is the filial Church of St. Kinga in Żegiestów-Zdrój. It belongs to the parish in Żegiestów. This brings two distinct ecclesiastical connections together: the former church, with its described architectural history and features, and the filial church as part of the parish structure.
