At the 7.7 km mark of the Łososińska Route, the trail near Rąbkowa climbs a 470 m hill above Tabaszowa. From there, the view stretches across Lake Rożnowskie, Gródek nad Dunajcem, the Beskid Sądecki, the Beskid Wyspowy and the Pogórze. The viewpoint showcases the destination’s landscape; the chapel in the village centre and the village’s history offer a different perspective.

The Łososińska Route and its stops

The Łososińska Route is about 28 km long. It begins at a crossroads in Kąty, passes through Michalczowa towards Łososina Dolna, and runs alongside the Aeroklub Podhalański airfield before reaching the municipal centre. Beyond the bridge over the Łososinka, it follows the river’s right bank and passes the KS “Łosoś” stadium before climbing a hill above Tabaszowa. You can take a break there, enjoy the view or head down to the historic little Church of St Nicholas in Tabaszowa.

At the 10.1 km mark, a blue hiking trail leads to Rożnów. You can also take a break there or head down towards the church in Tabaszowa, visible in the distance. At kilometre 13, the route reaches Znamirowice; the YC PTTK “Beskid” water station is about 200 m from the route. Sailing courses are held there every year. If you plan to take a course, check the dates in advance. From Znamirowice, the route climbs to Rąbkowa via a series of switchbacks. At the 15.4 km mark, it turns left at a crossroads in Rąbkowa towards Just and continues along a blue hiking trail.

Views nearby

On the way towards Just, the route passes a historic church at an elevation of 486 m; there are lovely views along the way. The hamlet of Szczołby nearby is also worth visiting for its scenery: from there, you can see across the Łososina Valley. These vistas differ from those on the hill above Tabaszowa, which offers views of the lake and the mountain ranges mentioned above. The route and its surroundings thus offer a variety of landscapes.

The chapel and history of Rąbkowa

In the centre of Rąbkowa stands a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa. Local residents built it in less than six months. The village’s origins date back to between 1400 and 1440. Its earlier names were first Romakowa and later Robkowa. Alongside its views and route stops, Rąbkowa therefore offers a distinct cultural and historical point of interest.

When deciding what to focus on, you can choose between local history and exploring the landscape: the chapel and the village’s early names are part of its history, while the route leads to viewpoints and other stops nearby. Landscape highlights include the hill above Tabaszowa, the views towards Just and the valley panorama from Szczołby, each offering a different perspective.
