Wierchomla Mała lies in the valley of the fast-flowing Wierchomlanka stream, and the Wierchomla ski resort is located in the village. Nearby, trails pass through forests and meadows, while the Wierchomla Forest Reserve lies on the slopes of Pusta Wielka.

Slopes, snowpark and ski school

The Wierchomla ski resort has more than 3.76 kilometres of slopes of varying difficulty, from very difficult to very easy. They start at an altitude of 896 metres above sea level. The figures for length, difficulty and altitude refer to different points of reference: the slope length describes the overall extent, the difficulty ratings indicate the range, and the altitude refers to the start of the runs.

The ski resort also has a 500-metre illuminated snowpark, as well as a ski school. If the ski school is important to your plans, check its current operating status in advance.

Valley and forest reserve

Wierchomla Mała lies in the valley of the fast-flowing Wierchomlanka stream. A red hiking trail leads from Wierchomla to the Wierchomla Forest Reserve on the slopes of Pusta Wielka. The mountain is 1,061 metres high, and the reserve has a 200-year-old beech and fir stand. This means that, alongside the slopes, you can take in specific landscape features: the trail marking, the location on the mountain slope, and the old beech and fir forest.

When planning a hike, you can distinguish between two destinations: the red trail from Wierchomla to the forest reserve and the routes to Bacówka PTTK nad Wierchlomlą. For the mountain hut, you can also choose between taking a bus and then walking, or following a forest road on foot or by bicycle. The markings help you find your way: the red trail leads from Wierchomla to the reserve; the 45-minute walk from the final bus stop to the hut is marked black.

Two routes to Bacówka PTTK nad Wierchlomlą

For one route, take the bus to the final stop at Wierchomla Mała and walk from there for 45 minutes along a black-marked trail through forests and meadows. Check the current bus timetable before travelling. The 45-minute estimate is for the walk from the final stop, not for the entire bus journey.

Another option is to travel from Wierchomla Mała to the hut on foot or by bicycle along a forest road of about five kilometres. The hiking trail to Bacówka also passes the car park in Wierchomla Mała; check its availability on site. The two routes therefore differ in their type of access: one involves a bus journey followed by a black-marked trail, while the other follows the forest road. Also check local conditions before setting out.
