More than eleven paved kilometres, an 800-metre loop, and a museum of regional history give Skawina a variety of things to explore during a stay. The Velo SKAwina runs from the town to Jaśkowice; there are also churches with artworks that can be dated, and monthly concerts at the Pałacyk “Sokół”. This gives you a basis for deciding whether exercise, culture, or both should shape your trip.

Cycling and outdoor recreation

The paved Velo SKAwina is more than 11 kilometres long and runs from the town of Skawina to Jaśkowice. It connects with the Wiślana Trasa Rowerowa and is also suitable for recreational cycling, walks, and other leisure activities. For planning purposes, the stated route length, its endpoint, and its connection to another cycling route are all useful reference points.

The Skawińskie Błonia offer a different scale: there is an 800-metre paved loop suitable for running, inline skating, riding a scooter, and cycling. The details distinguish a longer route to Jaśkowice from a shorter loop with several specified uses. When planning your time outdoors, you can therefore consider a longer connection and a loop with a clearly stated length as different options.

Churches and artworks from different centuries

The parish church of Saints Simon and Jude in Skawina was founded by Kazimierz Wielki and most recently rebuilt in 1826. The church also houses the 17th-century image of Our Lady of Skawina, which is especially venerated by the faithful. Its foundation, rebuilding, and painting each provide a distinct point of reference for the history of the religious building.

Another historic church is the former hospital church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was founded in 1471 by Maciej Skawinka, abbot of the Benedictines of Tyniec. It houses the 16th-century Renaissance painting “Crucifixion”. The dates refer to different events: 1471 to the founding of the former hospital church, and 1826 to the most recent rebuilding of the parish church.

A Jewish synagogue from the early 20th century has also been preserved in Skawina. Along with the churches and their artworks, it is one of the different historical subjects you can consider when exploring the town.

Pałacyk “Sokół”: history, concerts, and bus routes

The Pałacyk “Sokół” was built in 1904–1906 on the site of a fortified castle. The castle was probably built either during the reign of Kazimierz Wielki or shortly after his death. The Pałacyk hosts monthly concerts titled “Muzyczne Poniedziałki”. Check the current schedule before your visit if you would like to attend a concert.

You can reach the Pałacyk “Sokół” on city bus routes 203, 223, 233, 235, and S1, S2, S3, S4, and S5, getting off at the Skawina Szkoła stop on ul. Mickiewicza. As routes may change, it is worth checking the current connection before travelling.

Regional history at the Muzeum Regionalne

The Muzeum Regionalne in Skawina presents the history and folk-cultural heritage of the surrounding area in its exhibitions. The museum makes its exhibitions available to visitors. This offers a distinct way to explore the region’s background alongside its individual historic buildings and artworks. Check the current visitor arrangements before your visit.
