Rząska borders Kraków. Rail, landscape, and local history offer different starting points for planning a trip: the Zabierzów Rząska passenger stop provides connections in several directions, while access to the natural areas is subject to specific conditions. Churches, manor houses, and historic details tell the story of different periods in the area's past. If you are looking for hotels in Rząska, these highlights can help you tailor your stay to your interests.

Rail Connections and Getting Around

The Zabierzów Rząska passenger stop is in Rząska, on rail line No. 133 between Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice and Kraków Główny. SKA3 line trains serve the stop. From there, the listed directions include Zabierzów, Krzeszowice, and Oświęcim, as well as Kraków Główny and onward to Tarnów. For your specific plans, check the timetable for your travel date before setting off rather than assuming a particular frequency from the directions listed.

Landscape and Access

“Uroczysko w Rząsce” and “Podgołogórze” cover a total of 65.10 hectares. They can only be reached from Kraków-Bronowice via Tetmajera Street and nearby access points. The small hollow of Podgołogórze lies east of Rząska; there is no access to it from the village side. Check local access conditions before visiting. This is especially important if you plan to include the natural areas in your itinerary: they cannot be reached from the village side.

The “Uroczysko w Rząsce” ecological reserve covers part of the Rząska cadastral district within the Zabierzów administrative unit. It protects remnants of an alder-ash riparian forest and reed-bed communities that developed on the site of former ponds and unused meadows and pastures. Its conservation objectives include the marsh violet, classified as endangered in the Polish Red Data Book of Plants. The landscape here is therefore linked to a specific conservation purpose. The northeastern areas of Rząska, on the slopes of Pasternik, are undeveloped and partly wooded.

There are two designated recreation areas with shelters in the northwest of Rząska. One is located by a former quarry alongside the railway line; campfires are permitted there, and the site is accessible to people with disabilities.

Local History and Equestrian Activities

The parish Church of St. Anthony of Padua was built between 1981 and 1984 on the site of an earlier chapel. The chapel commemorated the great village fire of June 20, 1887. At a crossroads in the historic center of Rząska, there is also a brick wayside shrine dating from the early 20th century. These buildings represent different chapters in the area's history: the memory of the fire and a form of chapel from a later period.

The new manor house in Rząska dates from around 1886 and is now a convent of the Albertine Sisters. Extensive alterations were made in 1950 and 1995. Next to the manor house is a landscaped park with a few old trees dating from the second half of the 19th century. This should be distinguished from the site of a former 18th-century manor house, which was demolished after 1947. At the entrance to the present-day building on that site stand two carved lions from the earlier complex. Together, these historic details show that the area's history is not limited to a single building or period.

Horse breeding is another area of focus. The Research and Education Center of the Faculty of Animal Science and Biology at the University of Agriculture focuses mainly on this subject and has a related museum exhibition. It also operates a publicly accessible equestrian center offering hippotherapy and carriage rides. If you plan to visit, check the current operating conditions in advance. Rząska's attractions thus offer a range of options: alongside nature and local history, there is a public equestrian center with specific horse-related activities.
