You can plan a trip to Sępólno Krajeńskie around three specific interests: routes along two lakes, activities on Jezioro Sępoleńskie, and cultural and historical sites in the town. The options for spending your days differ considerably. At the harbor, you can go boating or watch sailing regattas; on the trails, length, route, and mode of travel matter. When looking for a hotel in Sępólno Krajeńskie, these themes can help you tailor your stay to your interests.
By the lake: harbor, promenade, and routes
From the harbor on Jezioro Sępoleńskie, you can set off on a boat trip or watch the sailing regattas held on the lake. These are two different ways to spend time by the water: head out on a trip yourself or watch the sailing from the shore.
A cycle path runs along the entire promenade, which also has benches and bicycle parking. The same promenade therefore offers a route for cycling as well as places to sit and facilities for parking bicycles. If you plan your visit around the lakeside promenade, you can take these amenities into account as a specific difference from the longer walking and cycling trails.
The black-marked Szlak Sępoleński walking trail is 7.5 kilometers long. It runs from Sępólno Krajeńskie through Dziechowo to Lutówko, along the northern shores of Jezioro Sępoleńskie and Jezioro Lutowskie. Another option is the approximately 17-kilometer walking and cycling trail around Jezioro Sępoleńskie. It passes through Krajeński Landscape Park and starts and ends in Sępólno Krajeńskie.
The two routes differ in more than just their stated length. Szlak Sępoleński is marked as a walking trail and runs from the town through Dziechowo to Lutówko; the longer loop can be completed on foot or by bike and returns to Sępólno Krajeńskie. If you want a route with a named endpoint outside the town, the first trail offers that option. If you prefer a route that starts and ends in Sępólno, the approximately 17-kilometer trail is the relevant alternative.
Cultural history in a church, cemetery, and collection
The Izba Dziedzictwa Kulturowego displays, among other items, a dough trough, spinning wheel, spindles, hand mangle, kerosene lamps, and shoe trees. There is also a wooden bed from the mid-19th century. The collection thus includes items from different areas of everyday life: from baking and spinning to caring for clothes and footwear, as well as lighting. The bed adds a piece of furniture with a specific historical date to these objects. If you are interested in cultural history beyond architecture, you will find a different kind of object here than at the parish church or cemetery.
The parish church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Sępólno Krajeńskie dates from 1799 to 1812. The cemetery of the Parish of St. Bartholomew on ul. Chojnicka dates back to 1882. Both dates provide a historical reference point, but relate to different places: the parish church and the cemetery on Chojnicka Street. Together with the Izba collection, they offer a varied perspective on cultural history, from a religious building and a cemetery to everyday objects.
Another site with a specific date is a planned exhibition: in June 2017, a three-party agreement was signed to establish a permanent exhibition in a 600 m² hall on the premises of the Agroma company. The history of a planned exhibition project is therefore also one of the town’s cultural topics.
