Birdlife shapes Wiele’s connection with nature. At its heart is the Jezioro Wieleckie nature reserve, with an observation tower beside the reserve and a tourist trail connecting it to the municipal centre. There is also a cycling trail and a marked Nordic walking route through the village. Visitors to Wiele can make nature observation and a choice of activities the focus of their stay.
Birdlife at Jezioro Wieleckie
The nature reserve protects the breeding, feeding and resting grounds, as well as habitats, of numerous bird species in Wiele. It covers 102.76 hectares. Jezioro Wieleckie is shallow and difficult for people to access, making it particularly attractive to birds. Its protected areas therefore serve different aspects of birdlife. For visitors, this natural setting comes with a specific birdwatching opportunity at the observation tower.
The observation tower in Wiele is beside the nature reserve and is particularly suitable for observing waterbirds. In December 2023, it reopened to visitors after being closed for almost a year. The tower underwent extensive modernisation and repairs.

The lack of supervision is an important condition to consider if you include this option in your plans.
