Compact Cycling Route No. 2 passes through Zawidowice. Other attractions include the manor house complex, a roadside shrine and, nearby, the Glinianki nature refuge. This gives you a choice of different focuses for your stay: cycling, historic architectural styles, and a pond landscape with diverse wildlife and plant life. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to decide first whether the cycling route, nature or local history should shape your plans.
Cycling with an estimated time frame
Compact Cycling Route No. 2, published by the municipality in 2025, runs through Lenartowice, Prokopów, Pacanowice, Pardelak, Grodzisko, Zawidowice and Przydziałki, then returns to Lenartowice. The estimated riding time for the loop is about 1 hour and 15 minutes; it depends on riding conditions. Take this estimate into account when planning, but do not treat it as a fixed schedule. Route details may change, so check the route before setting out. The “Stara Stajnia” inn in Zawidowice is listed as a point of interest along the route. If you plan to visit, check its current availability beforehand.
Hiking trail and landscape
The yellow hiking trail leads through fields, then through a small forest and down into a densely wooded, ravine-like stretch of the Ner valley. At kilometre 6.1, it crosses the paved road from Brzezie to Zawidowice. This provides both a specific crossing point for navigation and a description of the succession of different landscape features.
Glinianki: ponds and biodiversity
Near Zawidowice lies Glinianki, a nature refuge in an abandoned clay excavation area. It includes one large and several smaller, shallow ponds. The banks and aquatic vegetation are rich in species; the ponds provide a habitat for about 300 fire-bellied toads, several hundred green snaketails, other dragonfly species, and the large copper butterfly. Glinianki adds a nature-focused option to your choice of destination, distinct from Zawidowice’s architecture and historic traces.
Roadside shrine and manor house complex
A brick roadside shrine has stood in the western part of Zawidowice since 1945. It takes the form of a square pillar with a tented roof and a metal cross. A plaque bears the words “Ave Maria”; the shrine also contains a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a reproduction of the image of the Divine Mercy. The shrine combines a simple architectural form with specific religious imagery.
The manor house complex comprises a main manor, the remains of a smaller eastern farmyard, and a settlement of former manor workers’ houses along the main access road. Sections of the surviving brick wall with gates are also part of the complex. It also includes the ruin of a granary barn built in the 19th century, which burned down in 1976, and the former estate manager’s house. The surviving walls, ruin, and former residential and farm buildings represent different aspects of the manor’s history.
Horse riding and offerings at Stara Stajnia
The “Stara Stajnia” riding centre runs a riding school for beginners and advanced riders and offers specialised show-jumping training. Guided rides are also available. The “Stara Stajnia” restaurant serves home-style food and drinks, including refreshing beer. Its offerings also include catering; private celebrations can be held in its own rooms. As services may change, check in advance whether the offerings important to your stay are currently available.
