Dobrzyca offers two distinct perspectives for an exploration: Rococo furnishings in the Church of St. Tekla and an English-style palace park with ponds, old trees and a monopteros on an island. The focus is therefore on both sacred furnishings and landscape design and current cultural use. This mix helps you organise your stay around specific interests, rather than treating the different places as interchangeable attractions.

Church art and different ways to visit

The Church of St. Tekla preserves original Rococo furnishings from 1780 to 1783, created by the Kalisz sculptor Franciszek Eytner. The precise dates and attribution to Eytner provide the furnishings with a clear historical and artistic context. For those interested in cultural history, the focus here is on the preserved Rococo interior, not just the church building. This makes it possible to include the church in your travel plans as a specific part of local cultural history.

The former Protestant church in Dobrzyca marks a different period: it dates from 1841, was restored in the 1980s and can only be viewed from the outside. This restriction is important when choosing what to visit. At St. Tekla, the original furnishings are an interior feature; at the former Protestant church, only the exterior is accessible. This difference gives you two distinct reasons to compare the churches, rather than planning them as similar interior visits.

Palace park: landscape and individual features

The landscape park of the Muzeum Ziemiaństwa in Dobrzyca is laid out in the English style and covers more than nine hectares. The style describes the design, while the area gives an idea of the park’s scale. Alongside church art, the design of a larger park is therefore a distinct focus for your stay.

The park has four ponds and 35 trees among the old trees that have been designated natural monuments. The ponds and designated trees provide different points of interest: water features on the one hand, and individual natural monuments among the old trees on the other. Together with the English-style layout, they offer a mix of the park’s overall appearance and specific features to focus on.

The monopteros stands on an island in the palace park and is accessible by a bridge connecting the island to the rest of the park. The bridge makes the relationship between the island and the park clear. If you are interested in individual structures within a landscaped park, you can consider the monopteros alongside the ponds and trees as a distinct feature. Check current access to the monopteros before your trip.

The Panteon in the palace park is currently used for exhibitions and concerts. This adds a current cultural use to the landscape design. If you would like to include current cultural events in your travel plans, check the dates of the relevant events in advance.

Another planning consideration: cycling

At the municipal level, Dobrzyca is connected by a local link route to the Transwielkopolska Cycling Route from Poznań to Siemianowice near Kępno. This cycling connection adds a distinct planning consideration to the cultural and park themes. If cycling is part of your trip, you can take the municipality’s connection to the route into account alongside local highlights.
