Ujście combines a distinctive river landscape with a religious focal point: this is where the Gwda flows into the Noteć, and Kalwaria Ujska, together with St. Nicholas Parish Church, is a prominent destination. There is also a kayaking route, a marina, a viewing tower and a historic cultural offering. When planning your visit, it is worth considering these different aspects of the town separately: the landscape, churches and water-based activities each offer a distinct way to experience Ujście.

River Confluence and Landscape

Ujście lies where the Gwda flows into the Noteć. The boundary between the Noteć Valley and the Chodzież Upland also runs through the town. Here, the upland forms a high escarpment cut through by long ravines. The river confluence, valley and escarpment thus provide specific points of reference in the landscape.

At the level of the town and municipality, Ujście belongs to the Toruń–Eberswalde Ice-Marginal Valley. Kalwaria Ujska was entered in the register of monuments in 1997 because of its natural value. These details describe different aspects of the landscape: the location of the town and municipality within the ice-marginal valley and the special status of Kalwaria.

St. Nicholas and Kalwaria Ujska

The church complex, including St. Nicholas Parish Church, is in the centre of Ujście, south of the market square. The church is a neo-Baroque, three-aisled basilica with a transept. Since the decree of 6 December 2025, it has held the designation of Archdiocesan Sanctuary of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. Relics of the Holy Cross are also kept in the church.

Kalwaria Ujska comprises 14 Stations of the Cross chapels, a Lourdes grotto, a Sacred Heart chapel, an Ogrójec and the castle-like Belle Vue building. The ensemble brings together several different architectural forms and religious stations in one place. Anyone interested in the history and design of religious complexes will find a distinct focal point here alongside the parish church.

Since 1895, a plenary indulgence celebration in honour of the Precious Blood of Jesus has been held at Kalwaria Ujska on the first Sunday in July. If you would like to plan your trip around this celebration, check the date for the year in question.

Another Historic Church Building

The former Protestant church on Old Market Square was built in 1851–1852. It housed an art gallery whose programme included exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography and handicrafts. Author events and music concerts were also held there. Alongside the religious significance of St. Nicholas, this is another historic church building with a cultural use.

Kayaking Route and Marina

A 145-kilometre kayaking route runs from Drężno via Piła and ends in Ujście. The marina is located on the bank of the Noteć. The municipal development strategy for 2025–2034 lists five kayaks and five bicycles for hire there. If you plan to rent equipment, check its availability before your visit.

For travel planning, these refer to two different scales: the kayaking route describes a longer journey ending in Ujście, while the marina details concern rentals on site. This helps you distinguish whether you are interested in a route with Ujście as its endpoint or in the rental options listed for the marina.

Views from Osiedle Górne

The viewing tower is on Osiedle Górne, at the edge of the Toruń–Eberswalde Ice-Marginal Valley. From there, you can see the ice-marginal valley and the lower-lying town. The tower thus provides a specific vantage point from which to appreciate the difference in elevation between the landscape and Ujście.
