Zbąszyń is the center of the folk culture of the Kozła region. This gives the town a clear cultural focus: in addition to its musical tradition, points of interest include a parish church with late Baroque stucco decoration and a monument to a Koźlarz. There are also opportunities for fishing, swimming, cycling and running. This mix is useful for planning a trip because it appeals to both cultural and active interests; some water activities are seasonal.

Folk Culture, Music and Architecture

The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary has rich late Baroque stucco decoration dating from the late 18th century. Stucco is sculptural ornamentation on walls and ceilings; here, the elaborate decoration offers architecture enthusiasts a specific point of interest. The date places the church interior in a particular period and distinguishes this architectural cultural landmark from the folk music of the Kozła region.

Young Koźlarze—players of the kozioł—are trained at the Państwowa Szkoła Muzyczna in Zbąszyń. This is the only music school in Poland that teaches students to play folk instruments. Folk culture is therefore not just a subject associated with the town; it is also linked to education, as young musicians learn about the region’s instrumental tradition.

A monument to a Koźlarz in the market square commemorates the tradition of the Kozła region. The monument and the music school represent different roles: remembrance in the townscape and musical tradition passed on through education. When choosing a cultural focus, these points of interest can be distinguished from the parish church: here, music and remembrance are central, while the church focuses on sacred architecture.

Water Activities by Type and Season

There is a swimming area at the Łazienki town beach. It operates during the summer holidays, from late June to August, with lifeguards on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. These hours refer to lifeguard supervision. As the facility operates seasonally, check the latest seasonal information before your trip.

Jezioro Błędno and the Obra are suitable for fishing. This means you can choose between a lake and a river as a fishing spot. This activity differs from swimming at the town beach and from a route intended for cycling or walking.

A route around Jezioro Zbąszyńskie is suitable for cycling and running. During the summer season, a water tram also operates on the lake. This lets you compare two different activities connected with the lake: exercising on the route or taking a trip on the water. If you plan to take the water tram, check its current operating schedule locally before your trip. To help you choose between fishing and activities involving exercise, note which waters are associated with each: Jezioro Błędno and the Obra are suitable for fishing, while the route and water tram are associated with Jezioro Zbąszyńskie.
