Several periods of history come together in Dakowy Mokre: the Church of Saint Catherine was built between 1901 and 1904, the manor house complex was constructed around 1880, and its landscape park dates from the second half of the 19th century. There are also ring-fort sites with different features. For travellers interested in architectural styles, heritage history and historic park landscapes, these places offer specific points of reference when choosing a destination.

Church of Saint Catherine

The church is a Neo-Romanesque building with a tower topped by a slender spire. Its construction between 1901 and 1904 provides a clear point of reference in time. The high altar also features a distinctive detail: it contains a copy of Raphael’s “Sistine Madonna.” The architecture and altarpiece are different aspects of the same building—the exterior form and the pictorial decoration.

Memorial plaques to 31 victims of the Second World War and to the Dokowski family are set into the exterior walls. There is also an epitaph for the priest Stanisław Wyrwicki. These memorials are specific features of the church and add several named commemorative references to the architectural overview.

Manor House and Park Remains

The manor house complex was built around 1880 and is listed in the register of historic monuments. In 1912–1913, wings with upper floors were added to the building, giving it an H-shaped floor plan. The porticoes also differ according to their location: there is a semicircular columned portico on the north side and a square one on the south side. The construction date, later extension and different forms can thus be distinguished from one another within the complex.

North of the manor house are a smithy, a stable and two barns. These add other specific types of buildings to the description of the complex. Their locations are also specified: the smithy, stable and two barns are all north of the manor house.

The grounds include a 3.05-hectare remnant of a landscape park dating from the second half of the 19th century. Remains of a hornbeam avenue have survived. The park is therefore described as a remnant, not as a fully preserved landscape park. The area and avenue provide distinct points of reference for understanding the place, alongside the manor house buildings.

Ring-Fort Sites in Dakowy Mokre and the Surrounding Area

There is an early medieval ring-fort site in Dakowy Mokre. It is listed under historic monument register number 1639/A; the listing dates to 9 December 1974. A ring-fort site in the nearby area is a separate feature: it is now wooded and bowl-shaped. Its diameter is probably around 100 metres, and the surviving ramparts are up to 2 metres high. The approximate measurements and surviving rampart remains offer a different perspective from the architectural forms of the church and manor house.

A Dated Glimpse of Local Traditions

On 26 June 2024, a workshop on Midsummer Night traditions was held in Dakowy Mokre, in a clearing beside the local pond. Participants wove wreaths together. At the workshop, they could also sample homemade pastries, coffee and refreshing lemonade. The event combined a specific tradition with a communal craft activity; the food and drinks were part of this occasion.
