Sieraków combines a protected historic townscape with hiking trails, waterscapes and activities for those interested in culture and equestrian sports. You can tailor your stay to your interests, whether you are most drawn to the town’s history, a longer hiking route or destinations by the water.

Traces of the town’s history

The Bernardine Church was built in the 17th century and designed by Krzysztof Bonadura the Elder. The market square and adjoining streets form the oldest part of the town. Their historic layout has been preserved and is protected as a monument. Here, history is reflected not only in individual buildings but also in the structure of the oldest part of town.

The Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich is housed in a reconstructed wing of the former castle and displays the sarcophagi of the Opaliński family. Exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography are also held regularly. Since individual exhibition programmes may change, it is worth checking what is currently on offer before your visit. Another historical theme is depicted in the mural on Kowalska Street: it is dedicated to the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland and combines local elements with a reference to the baptism of Mieszko I.

Hiking in the landscape park

Sierakowski Landscape Park extends between Międzychód, Kwilcz and Chrzypsko Wielkie, with Sieraków at its heart. The park’s landscape features include moraine hills, river valleys and lake channels, as well as part of the Puszcza Notecka forest. This variety provides a scenic setting for the hiking trails, though the two routes offer different perspectives.

The yellow- and black-marked Sieraków–Kukułka–Błota hiking trail starts in Sieraków and is 14.9 kilometres long. Along this route, you can look out over Jezioro Kłosowskie. The lake is mostly surrounded by forest; its generally high and varied shoreline has several peninsulas. Two wooded islands and the adjacent waters are part of the “Czaple Wyspy” strict nature reserve. The blue-marked Sieraków–Bucharzewo hiking trail is shorter, at 6.3 kilometres, and runs parallel to the Warta at some distance from it. The stated distances give you a concrete basis for comparing the routes; the lake and river landscapes offer different points of interest.

Water, wakeboarding and equestrian sports

On the bank of the Warta, the marina and riverbank in Sieraków serve as a mooring point for tourists to launch and moor boats. The seasonal WakePark Sieraków is located on Lake Jaroszewskie. Its two-mast cable lift is suitable for beginners and experienced wakeboarders alike. Alongside hiking, boating and wakeboarding are therefore distinct options to consider for your stay.

Stado Ogierów Sieraków is a centre for equestrian sports and riding holidays. If this appeals to you, you can consider it as a complement to the town’s cultural and scenic attractions. Lifeguards are scheduled to supervise the municipal bathing beach “Plaża Miejska nad Jeziorem Jaroszewskim” seasonally from 1 July to 31 August. Before visiting, check whether supervision is currently taking place as scheduled.

Tailor your stay to your interests

For a culture-focused stay, the church, historic town centre, museum and mural offer a range of points of interest. If you prefer spending time outdoors, you can compare the two hiking trails by their stated distances and the landscapes described. The marina, WakePark and equestrian centre each offer a different focus.
