Fifteen exhibits from various fields of science provide the starting point for SOWA in Jarocin. Its learning concept focuses on independent exploration, discovery and experimentation. At the Regional Museum in Jarocin, the permanent exhibition also presents the history of the town and the Jarocin region from 1793 to 1989; a separate section is dedicated to the palace and the Radoliński family. This brings together two approaches: independent discovery at SOWA and a historical overview at the museum. Those interested in science and local history will find more than one way to explore culture in Jarocin.

Buildings and historical traces

The architectural history also provides specific points in time. The Radoliński Palace was built from 1847 to 1853 based on designs by Friedrich August Stüler. The former Evangelical Church of St. George was built in 1847–1848 and comprehensively restored and remodeled in the Neo-Romanesque style in 1894. An architectural comparison therefore involves more than their shared period of construction: the palace’s history includes a design by a named architect, while the church also underwent a major later transformation. The chronology draws attention to two different questions—how a building was constructed and how an existing building was later redesigned.

The historical picture extends beyond these two buildings. Skarbczyk is a surviving part of the former residence of Jarocin’s owners and is located in the town park by the pond. Jarocin railway station offers a different perspective on history: it is the oldest surviving junction station of its kind in Greater Poland. These places reveal different aspects of the past: a former residence, a building that was later remodeled, and a railway station whose significance is linked to its classification as a junction station. Those who prefer to explore history through specific places rather than a single timeline can compare these points of reference.

Parks and routes

In Jarocin’s park, the Parkowy Odkrywca ecological trail focuses on the most impressive or valuable trees throughout the grounds. It invites visitors to discover the tree population as part of the park. A high ropes course is located beside the amphitheater in Radoliński Park. The tree-focused trail and climbing offer different experiences; visitors interested in the park can choose between them according to their own interests.

The two routes differ in length and course. The red route is a 30.2-kilometre circular route that begins and ends at Jarocin railway station. The green route is 24.5 kilometres long, runs from the station to Śmiełów and passes, among other places, by the Radoliński Palace. The red route therefore returns to its starting point, while the green route ends elsewhere and passes one of the buildings mentioned above. Check local route conditions before setting out.

Festival history and places for recreation

Jarocin’s festival history offers several points of reference. The Glan monument draws on Jarocin’s festival tradition. “Jarocin Festiwal krok po kroku” is a self-guided trail that leads to places connected with the history of the Jarocin festivals and conveys their former atmosphere. The monument and the trail offer different ways to engage with this history: one is a single place of remembrance, while the other connects several locations associated with the festivals. Check whether the route is currently available before using it.

Other places for recreation include the skate park on Św. Ducha Street, behind the car park, and a pump track on Aleja Światowego Dnia Roweru. The pump track is beyond the S11 overpass when approaching from Maratońska Street. The location details offer different points of reference: for the skate park, it is the car park; for the pump track, it is the overpass and the direction from Maratońska Street. This makes it possible to distinguish between the two locations based on where they are.
