Przesieki lies on the Przysieka and near the Drawa; the Płociczna also flows into the Drawa near Przesieki. A valuable peat bog is a defining feature of the natural landscape, while archaeological and historical points of interest add to the character of the village and its surroundings. So when planning your visit, it is worth looking at both: places within Przesieki and individual points in the surrounding area.
Water, peat bog, and lake
The peat bog “Torfowisko w Przesiekach” is one of the area’s valuable natural features. An elongated forest lake is also located near Przesieki. It covers about 15 ha and has a shoreline of 2,500 m. The area and shoreline figures describe two different aspects of the lake and help convey its size. On the side facing the village, there is a large meadow, a beach volleyball court, and a wooden shelter. As facilities may change, check that these amenities are available before your visit. A 2021 description mentions a parking area for several dozen cars about 2 km beyond Przesieki, a kayak rental, a bridge, and access to the Drawa. Check these facilities before your trip as well.
History and notable points of interest
The archaeological settlement site “punkt osadniczy, st. 3” is located in the village. Przesieki also lies along the former road from Berlin to Gdańsk. This historic route adds a reference to the village’s former transport connections to its archaeological significance. Bunkers, remnants of the Pomeranian Wall, are located in the area around Przesieki and Osieczno. The visibility of individual structures varies by location. Those interested in historic infrastructure will therefore find not only traces of settlement, but also a connection to the fortifications.
The “Jeleń” pine stands on the road between Przesieki and Kuźnica Żelichowska. If you plan to visit the tree, check its condition before your trip, as it may change. Another historical point of interest lies nearby in Zacisze: a history and nature trail runs through the grounds of the former Zacisze estate. It was created in 2005 by the Krzyż municipality and the Krzyż Forest District. Check before your visit whether the described route is still current. Information boards were installed beside the former Paasche family manor house in 2004. Chronologically, the boards predate the trail by one year: they were installed at the former manor house in 2004, while the history and nature trail was created in 2005.
Choose the right focus
The locations also differ: the peat bog and settlement site are in Przesieki; the forest lake, pine, bunkers, and Zacisze are in the nearby area or along the road between the villages.
