The Noteć is Czarnków’s most important landscape feature. Here, you can choose between several ways to explore: a kayaking trip can start at Marina Czarnków, near the city center; there are also trails along the river and historic places in the city. This makes it possible to get to know Czarnków from both the water and the riverbank, as well as through its architectural and urban history.

The Noteć, promenade, and cycle path

The promenade along the Noteć becomes a cycle path along the river in Czarnków. The cycle path is part of the larger Nadnotecka Cyklostrada. This means the promenade and cycle path are not simply two names for one activity: the promenade connects to the cycle route, which in turn is part of a wider network. If you are interested in the cycle route, you can therefore also consider Czarnków as part of this larger connection.

Another way to include the river in your plans is to take a kayaking trip on the Noteć. Marina Czarnków, near the city center, is a possible starting point. This option differs from the paths along the riverbank: it takes you onto the water, while the promenade and cycle path run alongside the river. Hiking trail from Czarnków to Goraj

There is also a specific route for a hike: a blue, 9 km-long hiking trail leads from Czarnków to Goraj. Unlike the promenade and cycle path along the Noteć, this trail has its own destination outside Czarnków. The two options can be distinguished by their direction: one is a route along the river, the other a hiking trail from the city to Goraj.

Architectural history and memorial sites

The late Gothic parish church of St. Mary Magdalene was built from 1580 to 1586 at the initiative of the Czarnkowski family, of the Nałęcz coat of arms. The Muzeum Ziemi Czarnkowskiej is housed in a restored former Prussian school building dating from the late 19th century. The church and museum building thus offer different connections to the city’s history: sacred architecture and a historic schoolhouse.

The Czarnkowski Bridge connects the two banks of the Noteć and, in turn, two districts of the city. It is still an active road link and is one of Czarnków’s most valuable technical monuments. On Kościuszki Street stands an authentic T-34 tank, commemorating the events of 1945 and Czarnków’s wartime history. Another well-known landmark is the former “Pod Grzybkiem” ski jump; the last competitions there took place more than half a century ago.

Events and local food

Dni Ziemi Czarnkowskiej is an annual, week-long festival featuring music, dance, art, and entertainment. Another event highlight is Dzień Spieczonego Bliźniaka, held every year in Czarnków on the last Saturday in August. It brings together twins, triplets, quadruplets, and quintuplets, along with their families and friends, from across Poland and abroad. The festival and this August event therefore differ both in duration and in their program and purpose.

Natural foods made by local producers are offered at the Agro-Targi in Czarnków. This is a direct connection to local products, tied to this event. City park and other activities

At Park im. Stanisława Staszica, visitors can go for a walk, linger by the fountain, relax in the shade of the trees, and spend time with family.
