A post dated June 23, 2013, names Yarina alongside eight other settlements in the Nanay area as a place within the sphere of influence of the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve. For travel planning, this is a regional reference; the specific access routes to the Nanay sector should be considered separately. If you are looking for a vacation rental in Yarina, plan your journey around your actual destination and do not automatically treat the routes to Mishana as directions to your accommodation.
Natural environment and tourism areas
In San Juan Bautista, Maynas, Loreto, a zone of the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve covers 4,793.91 hectares and is divided into ten tourism areas: San MartĂn, Libertad, Shiriara, Mishana-Yarana, El Porvenir, Lagunas, 15 de Abril, Samito, Anguilla, and San Juan de Raya. The area figure indicates the size of the zone, while the names designate its tourism areas. For orientation, the name of the particular area is therefore important: the overall name of the Reserve and an individual tourism area refer to different spatial levels.
The Reserve includes Varillal and Chamizal forests on white sand, which are classified within the Napo ecoregion. This landscape reference thus encompasses two named forest types, the specified substrate, and the broader ecological classification. This complements the list of tourism areas and helps place the Reserve’s natural environment in context.
Routes to the Nanay sector and the Comunidad Mishana
SERNANP’s visitor information lists the Iquitos–Nina Rumi and Iquitos–Santa Clara roads, as well as the RĂo Nanay, as routes to the Nanay sector. The sequence for the route via Nina Rumi is also specified: a road leads from central Iquitos to the Nina Rumi port; from there, river transport takes travelers to the Comunidad Mishana. This route therefore includes a road leg and a river leg.
The change in mode of transport makes the route via Nina Rumi a separate planning consideration: first, take the road to the port, then travel by river to the Comunidad Mishana. The listed roads and the RĂo Nanay provide access to the Nanay sector; the route described leads to Mishana. It should therefore not be confused with a journey to Yarina.
Choose accommodation based on your destination
The Comunidad Mishana is associated with community accommodation. This accommodation reference applies to Mishana and should be distinguished from the search for a vacation rental in Yarina. If you want to stay overnight in Yarina, choose accommodation based on its specific location and compare it with your planned destinations. Also check current availability before booking. This keeps your choice of overnight location and your plans for visiting the Nanay sector focused on their respective destinations.
