Trapiche’s natural lagoon is a specific starting point for planning your trip: it is fed by the Río Chillón and underground springs, forming a natural, chlorine-free swimming pool. For the bus journey, there is a sequence involving Kilometer 22 and the “Pollo” stop; other landmarks can be distinguished by their street names. This lets you treat your visit to the water, the journey, and finding your way around the area as separate planning steps.

Lagoon and Green Spaces

The lagoon offers two different ways to enjoy the outdoors. Visitors can swim in the natural pool and have barbecues in the extensive green spaces around it. The water is fed by the Río Chillón and underground springs. If you plan to do both activities, keep the pool and the green spaces in mind as separate areas: swimming takes place in the pool, while barbecuing is possible in the surrounding areas. Check local visitor conditions and the water status before your visit.

Taking the Bus to the Lagoon

To get to the lagoon, first take a bus to Kilometer 22 and get off at the “Pollo” stop. From there, buses or colectivos run along Avenida Túpac Amaru to cross Puente Trapiche. This sequence gives several specific landmarks—kilometer number, stop, street, and bridge—which you can keep distinct when planning your journey. Since these are details about public transport, check before you travel whether the route still operates this way.

Puente Trapiche also serves the settlements on the left bank of the Río Chillón along the road to Canta. When flooding cuts these places off from the rest of the district’s transport network, the bridge provides access. The crossing is part of the bus sequence described above; its additional access function concerns the settlements during floods. Road conditions can vary seasonally, so it is advisable to check conditions for your planned journey in advance.

Distinguishing Las Retamas and Agualandia

The Kilometer 40 reference applies to two other landmarks, but on different roads. Las Retamas is at Kilometer 40 on the Lima–Canta road in Trapiche and is known for its striking green spaces. Centro Recreacional Agualandia is at Kilometer 40 on the Carabayllo–Canta road. The kilometer number alone is therefore not enough to find your way: read it together with the place and road names so you do not confuse the two references. If visiting Las Retamas or Centro Recreacional Agualandia, check current access options. The condition of the green spaces at Las Retamas may change.

Considering Trapiche as a Place to Stay

If you are considering staying in Trapiche, first decide whether the lagoon or one of the other places mentioned will be the focus of your stay. Compare vacation rentals based on their confirmed locations and your own travel plans, without treating kilometer references on different roads as equivalent. Check the availability and terms of the relevant listing before booking.
