Playa La Cruz combines the tradition of a picturesque fishing village with modern tourist facilities. Between the beach, marina and Sunday market, there are different ways to shape your trip: time in the water, market offerings or excursions at sea.

Beach and time in the water

Playa de La Marina de La Cruz beach has gentle waves. You can swim in calm water there, and paddleboarding and kayaking are also possible. For a different view of the coast, take a walk at sunset and watch the boats at the dock. That gives you the option of swimming and water sports alongside a more relaxed evening activity.

Sunday market and food

La Cruz Market takes place on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Marina Riviera Nayarit; its season runs from November to April. Check the current schedule before visiting. Organic products, prepared foods, handicrafts, clothing and art are among the offerings, which may vary depending on the season and vendors. There is also live music and cultural activities on Sundays. This recurring program may change seasonally.

In the broader destination of BahĂa de Banderas, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle has dozens of local restaurants. Together with the prepared foods and products at the market, this gives you different ways to include food in your stay.

Marina, boat excursions and facilities

Marina Riviera Nayarit is a full-service marina with more than 340 berths, a fuel station, a public dinghy dock and sailing schools. It is a starting point for boat trips and sport fishing excursions. Individual services may change; if a particular facility is important to your plans, check its current status.

Astillero La Cruz has dry marina spaces for trailerable boats up to 35 feet. A ramp is available for launching and hauling out boats on trailers; the 35-foot size limit applies to the dry marina spaces.

Culture and seasonal experiences

The Marina Riviera Nayarit amphitheater hosts concerts, including weekly movie nights. Environmental education activities also take place at the marina, including cleanups of nearby beaches and public environmental films. The patron saint festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Paz include a traditional maritime procession carrying the Torch of Peace from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerías. Programs and dates may change; check the latest dates if an event is important to your travel plans.

During whale season, from December to March, humpback whale watching excursions are offered from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Check seasonal dates and the current availability of excursions before making plans.
