Ramos Arizpe offers several distinct starting points for an exploration: collections focused on paleontology, history, and culture; a cultural center with its own history as a building; and leisure activities ranging from a dinosaur park to a water park. There is also the Viacrucis de San Nicolás de Tolentino, recognized as intangible cultural heritage. If you’re looking for a hotel in Ramos Arizpe, consider what you’d most like your stay to include: cultural history, cultural events, or leisure activities. The places below offer different highlights.
Museums, Buildings, and Cultural Events
The Museo de Historia de Ramos Arizpe is located in the Alameda. A municipal exhibition description from July 2025 mentions cultural, paleontological, and historical artifacts that illustrate the development of humans in the region. The themes described thus range from culture and history to paleontology. Check the focus of the collection again before your visit.
The Casa de la Cultura de Ramos Arizpe is housed in a building constructed in 1945. It later housed the Pedro Domecq wine factory; in February 2003, it was converted for cultural use. The history of the building can therefore be traced through its construction, former use as a factory, and conversion for cultural purposes. As of November 2025, cultural offerings include conferences, films, theater, art exhibitions, and book presentations. Individual programs and schedules may change; check what’s being offered on your visit date before you go.
Leisure Activities at the Alameda and Aqua Ramos
Dinolandia is located in the Alameda in Ramos Arizpe. A municipal description from July 2025 mentions more than 13 animatronic dinosaurs, a fossil-digging area, a suspension bridge, and a crashed airplane. The main attraction is described as a 15-meter-tall long-necked dinosaur. The description thus includes a fossil area and other park features in addition to the dinosaur figures.
Aqua Ramos is a water park and recreational space for the community. Municipal reporting described the facility this way ahead of its planned reopening in April 2025. During the 2025 season, which began on April 12, Aqua Ramos welcomed nearly 30,000 visitors from various parts of Mexico and abroad. This figure refers to the 2025 season. For a current visit, check whether Aqua Ramos is open on your chosen date.
Cultural Heritage and Historic Sites in the Surrounding Area
The Viacrucis de San Nicolás de Tolentino was declared intangible cultural heritage of Ramos Arizpe to mark its 50th anniversary. Alongside the stories of buildings and collections, this also brings an intangible form of cultural heritage into focus.
The Ex Hacienda Plan de Guadalupe is nearby, 101 km from Ramos Arizpe. Venustiano Carranza signed the Plan de Guadalupe there in 1913. Another historic landmark is the Hacienda de Santa MarĂa, near the administrative center of Ramos Arizpe. It preserves Baroque altarpieces as well as accounts of Father Hidalgo’s passage through the area during the War of Independence. Their different locations and stories offer two distinct ways to explore regional history.
