The beaches of Andora have very fine, natural sand; the seabed is also sandy and slopes gently. The coast also offers opportunities for water sports, birdwatching and cultural activities. You can tailor your stay to the season and your interests, choosing different areas to focus on.

Coast and water sports

On the western promenade, a free, publicly accessible corridor to the sea allows windsurfing during the summer season. Seasonal access arrangements may change; check the current conditions before your visit. Surfing and kitesurfing are other activities in Andora. Their availability may vary depending on the provider and the season.

Whale-watching trips depart from the harbour. Providers and schedules are seasonal, so it is worth checking current dates in advance. The Pelagos Sanctuary flag also flies at the harbour. These activities have different seasonal schedules: the windsurfing corridor is available during the summer season, while whale-watching trips follow seasonal timetables.

Nature and hiking

The Oasi del Merula lies at the mouth of the river of the same name, within the built-up area of Andora. The wetland is of regional importance, and more than 50 bird species have been observed there. Autumn and spring are considered the best seasons for birdwatching. If you would like to include this in your stay, you can plan your travel dates accordingly.

The Sentiero delle Orchidee skirts the transmission facilities and descends gently towards Parco CiappĂ  and Cervo. Cervo is a separate nearby town along the route. Another hiking option is Stage 23 of the Sentiero Liguria: it starts in Andora and ends in the historic centre of Albenga. Trail conditions can change, so check them before setting out. The two route descriptions offer different guidance: the Sentiero delle Orchidee heads towards Parco CiappĂ  and Cervo, while the Sentiero Liguria stage ends in Albenga.

Church, museum and contemporary art

The Church of Saints James and Philip stands in Borgo Castello. It is a well-preserved Romanesque building dating from the 12th or 13th century. Its basilica-style layout comprises three aisles. You can reach the church on foot via paths to Borgo Castello, some of which are uphill; this is useful practical guidance when planning your visit.

The Museo Mineralogico Luciano Dabroi contains a collection of more than 5,000 items donated to the Municipality of Andora by Dr Luciano Dabroi. It offers an educational trail for school students and other interested visitors. Palazzo Tagliaferro houses the Contemporary Culture Center, an exhibition space for contemporary art curated by Whitelabs. Two viewing terraces overlook Parco delle Farfalle, the sea and the hills of Andora.

Rollo also offers a cultural event with a regional focus: the annual Festa delle Erbe Aromatiche celebrates the flavours of Liguria and medicinal herbs. Check the current event dates when planning your trip.

Culinary traditions and choosing a hotel

Andora’s culinary traditions include fresh pasta, seafood dishes and rustic flavours. Along with the coast, nature and culture, these offer several possible ways to shape your stay. You can choose where to stay based on the experiences that matter most to you.
