Junrejo can be discovered through its distinctive local features: a historic water shrine, handmade goods and a shaded market area. If you are looking for accommodation, consider first whether these local themes should shape your stay, or whether the wider destination of Kota Batu should also factor into your travel plans.

Historic Water Shrine in Junrejo

Sumber Jeding, a historic petirtaan, or water shrine, is located in Dusun Jeding, Desa Junrejo. According to local tradition, the spring never runs dry. The petirtaan is described as being in poor condition. You can take Sumber Jeding’s historic character into account when planning, without overlooking the site’s condition.

Handicrafts and a Shaded Market Area

Most residents of Junrejo village make handmade goods. These include plastic bags, stone mortars and wooden kitchen utensils. The range spans different materials and uses: plastic, stone and wood all feature in the village’s craft tradition. If you are interested in local production, this offers a different point of interest from the historic water shrine.

Pasar Bring Raharjo is in an area shaded by Petung bamboo trees. This area invites visitors to linger, relax and enjoy snacks. It gives the market surroundings a distinctive, more laid-back feel alongside the area’s cultural and craft offerings. Check whether the market is currently operating before visiting.

Kota Batu as a Wider Destination

Beyond Junrejo, the wider destination of Kota Batu offers additional themes to explore. The following places and activities are in Kota Batu; they are regional additions, not local features of Junrejo.

Nature, Views and Recreation

Paralayang Batu is located on Mount Banyak in Songgokerto, Kota Batu, Jawa Timur, and offers tandem flights with an instructor. From the launch point on Mount Banyak, visitors can see Kota Batu, residential areas, valleys and the surrounding mountains. For a different nature-focused experience, Wana Wisata Coba Rais in Oro-Oro Ombo, Batu City, is a destination for nature adventure tourism. Selecta is located in Tulungrejo village, Bumiaji District, Kota Batu, and is a family recreation destination. These three examples appeal to different interests: views and tandem flights, nature adventure tourism, or recreation.

Transport History and Theme Parks

Museum Angkut is a transport museum in Batu City, Jawa Timur. It covers land, sea and air transport across different eras and countries, and serves educational and recreational purposes as well as introducing visitors to transport science and technology. Those interested in transport will find a different theme here than in Kota Batu’s amusement parks.

Jawa Timur Park is a 22-hectare theme park in Batu and is divided into Jatim Park 1, Jatim Park 2 and Jatim Park 3. Jatim Park 1 offers more than 50 rides for visitors of all ages. Jatim Park 2 includes a zoo with various endangered animal species as well as the Animal Museum. Its exhibits include rare replicas of Stegosaurus and Apatosaurus. The attractions described here have different focuses: rides on the one hand, and animal species and dinosaur replicas on the other.

Fruit Picking in Kota Batu

Desa Wisata Petik Strawberry is located in Pandanrejo village, Bumiaji District, Kota Batu. A 2018 description lists strawberry picking as an activity there; check current availability before making plans. Apple-picking tours in Kota Batu orchards have also been documented. A description published in 2013 noted that participants could eat apples in the orchard as they wished and buy apples to take home for an additional fee. Check current operators and availability before planning such a tour.

You can then consider whether the other themes in the wider destination of Kota Batu also suit your travel plans.
