Wonosalam is a mountainous area at the foot of the Anjasmoro Mountains. Here, landscapes and natural history meet: Taman Kehati Kabupaten Jombang in Desa Sumberejo is home to rare plants and a scientific tree collection. Elsewhere in Jombang, waterways and rock formations sit alongside religious pilgrimage sites and places that reflect different chapters of cultural history.

Wonosalam and the diversity of nature

Taman Kehati Kabupaten Jombang is home to 133 rare plant species endemic to East Java. Around 3,000 trees are maintained there as a scientific collection. The area is one of East Java’s local biodiversity reserves and is being developed for conservation, education, and recreation. Its profile therefore includes both biodiversity and a scientific collection.

Jombang’s waterscapes also reveal different sides of the region. Air Terjun Tretes is located in Dusun Pengajaran, Desa Galengdowo, also in Kecamatan Wonosalam. The path to the waterfall passes through forest and mountain landscapes; Air Terjun Tretes is also considered a destination for light adventure. For a natural setting featuring a river and rocks, Kedung Cinet offers a different focus: this place in Pojok Klitih, Desa Klitih, has a river course and distinctive rock formations. Its rural surroundings are different from an urban setting.

Wana Wisata Sumberboto in Tempuran, Dusun Sedah, Desa Japanan, brings together water sources, open spaces, and local stories. At Goa Sigolo-golo in Desa Panglungan, natural landscapes, local stories, and exploration come together; the cave is considered a destination for special interests. These nature destinations each have their own appeal: from a path through forest and mountain landscapes to the combination of water, rocks, and rural surroundings.

Pilgrimage Sites, Culture and History

Jombang’s religious tourism landscape includes several sites, each with its own historical associations. Kawasan Wisata Religi Makam Gus Dur in Desa Cukir, Kecamatan Diwek, is one of the best-known pilgrimage destinations in Jombang. The tomb of KH. Wahab Hasbullah in Tambakrejo, Kecamatan Jombang, is connected with the history of Nahdlatul Ulama and the pesantren. The tomb of Sayyid Sulaiman in Dusun Rejoslamet, Desa Mancilan, is also part of the connected religious tourism route promoted by Kabupaten Jombang.

The collections and information at Museum Islam Indonesia KH. Hasyim Asy'ari in Tebuireng Gang 4, Kwaron, Cukir, cover topics related to the development of Islam in Indonesia. Candi Rimbi in Dusun Pulosari, Desa Pulosari, is a historic site from the classical period. The temple reveals traces of East Java’s history and culture and is associated with the Majapahit period.

Klenteng Hong San Kiong in Bumi Arjo, Gudo, offers another cultural perspective. It is connected with the development of Jombang’s Chinese community and its social history. As a cultural destination, it is also associated with themes of tolerance, acculturation, and diverse social life. Together with the pilgrimage sites and historic landmarks, it offers a different way to explore the region’s cultural history than Wonosalam’s landscape destinations.

KenDuren Wonosalam and the annual festival

KenDuren Wonosalam is an annual festival in Kecamatan Wonosalam. It highlights durian as an important agricultural product and part of the area’s agrotourism identity. Thanksgiving for the harvest, tourism promotion, cultural performances, and strengthening the local economy are among the festival’s aims. KenDuren Wonosalam was officially canceled for 2026; an official visitor announcement dated February 19, 2026, reported the cancellation of that year’s edition.

Jombang therefore offers a range of starting points for planning your own trip: mountain landscapes and biodiversity, water and rocks, or religious and cultural history. The places mentioned are located in different parts of the regency, so choose according to the themes that interest you most.
