For planning purposes, three main themes can be distinguished: the medicinal pools at Csokonya Thermal, the plant and bird life of the Csokonyavisontai Fás Legelő nature reserve, and crafts and guided excursions at Xantus-Liget. Medicinal pools at Csokonya Thermal

Csokonya Thermal has two outdoor medicinal pools open year-round, with medicinal water at 35 to 37°C. There are also two covered medicinal pools, likewise at 35 to 37°C, as well as a 20°C cold plunge pool. This gives you a choice of outdoor and indoor pools, while the warm medicinal water and cool plunge pool offer a clear contrast. Check the seasonal operating schedule before travelling.

Plant and bird life in the nature reserve

The Csokonyavisontai Fás Legelő nature reserve lies within the municipality of Csokonyavisonta and covers about 440 hectares. It is of national importance. Nearly 300 species of higher plants are found there, including ten protected species. Breeding birds include black storks, black kites and European honey buzzards; their presence may vary by season.

The diversity of plants and the breeding birds offer two different perspectives on the nature reserve. If you are planning your trip around nature, you can consider the botanical richness and the seasonally varying presence of breeding birds separately.

Pottery and guided excursions at Xantus-Liget

At Xantus-Liget, visitors can try their hand at making clay vessels. The activities range from simple hand-shaped vessels to pottery on a wheel; various decorating techniques and traditional firing methods are also included. This hands-on experience makes pottery a distinct theme alongside the area's nature attractions.

A permanent exhibition presents the area's animal and plant life in Csokonyavisonta. Xantus-Liget also runs guided excursions for children and adults, including a botanical tour of local plant communities. The activities therefore have different focuses: the exhibition introduces local nature, while the botanical tour focuses on plant communities. Workshops and visitor programs may be seasonal or require advance arrangements.

Xantus-Liget is located in Alexandra-puszta in Csokonyavisonta, five kilometres from the main road. Take this distance into account when planning your journey.

Church history and horse riding

The Reformed Church of Csokonyavisonta was once a manor granary. László Malik had the building originally constructed as a church around 1780. After his death, it remained unfinished and was converted into a granary. This unusual history gives the building a different focus from the nature and craft themes of the trip.

Several local farms offer horse riding for beginners and advanced riders. These two levels of experience provide an additional activity to consider when planning your stay.
