Noszvaj combines distinctive cultural attractions with opportunities to spend time outdoors: cave dwellings with a contemporary art scene, a puzzle trail to eight springs, and walking paths along the wine cellars. On your trip, you can choose between cultural history, an excursion into nature and walks around town.

Cave Dwellings and a Contemporary Art Scene

The old Pocem cave dwellings, in what was once Betlehem utca, now serve as a venue for artistic activity. Here, a traditional form of housing exists alongside a contemporary cultural use. The entrance on Honvéd utca provides year-round access on foot. Also check the latest visitor information before your visit.

Puzzle Trail to the Springs

The Forrástúra leads into the forest north of Noszvaj. On this puzzle trail, the challenge is to find eight springs; at each one, you solve a riddle accompanied by a verse. The route is 7.5 kilometres long and includes 350 metres of ascent followed by a descent. The distance may vary depending on the loop you choose. These details give you a clear idea of what to expect when planning the excursion as part of your trip.

Ponds, Hills and Walking Paths

Síkfőkút, Noszvaj’s recreation area, lies north of the town in the valley of the Kánya stream. Natural ponds and ponds later created artificially are set in a landscape surrounded by forests and mountains. This area offers a different way to experience nature from the Forrástúra, whose puzzle trail leads into the forest north of Noszvaj.

The 309-metre-high Imány-tető is located in the centre of Noszvaj. A Millennium monument and a national flag stand on the hill. Wildflowers, including several protected species, grow on its slopes. Its terrain, memorials and plant life describe different aspects of this distinctive place, without requiring a visit at any particular time of year.

The rows of wine cellars are also suitable for walks. These include the rows along Szomolyai út and Jókai út, as well as Kőporosi, Imányi, Emődi, Kis-Imányi and Mátyás-téri. These routes complement the more nature-focused Forrástúra with walks through Noszvaj’s cellar areas.

Castle and Other Cultural Sites

The De la Motte-kastély in Noszvaj welcomes visitors with an exhibition on the castle’s history. The castle was built in the style of Louis XVI and stands in a park measuring 25 holds. Its architecture, exhibition and park make it a cultural attraction in its own right during your stay.

Through its exterior and furnishings, the Noszvaji Gazdaház offers a glimpse of the living conditions and way of life of wealthy farming families in the late 19th century. Copies of the original painted coffered panels are displayed in the Reformed Church of Noszvaj. Sándor Gelsei made the copies in 2001. Together, these sites offer different perspectives on history: from the castle and its exhibition, to the family life portrayed, to the painted panels.
