Hosszúpályi offers different ways to shape a stay: architectural history, everyday rural culture and birdwatching. The Reformed Church stands in the town centre; the Bődi István Village Museum focuses on the life and work of a smallholder family on the Great Hungarian Plain. The Kerek-fenék birdwatching tower adds another thematic highlight. This lets you prioritise the interests that you want to shape your trip.

Reformed Church and architectural history

The Reformed Church stands in the town centre. The east-facing, single-nave building has a straight-ended plan and is in the Romantic style. Its history reaches back to medieval foundations: the church was built in the Neoclassical style between 1803 and 1807, then rebuilt in the Romantic style in 1863. The building therefore brings together a medieval foundation and two clearly distinct building phases. For architecture enthusiasts, this chronology is especially revealing: both the Neoclassical building and the later Romantic rebuilding are part of the church’s history.

Rural life at the Village Museum

Through a group of buildings, their exterior design and their furnishings, the Bődi István Village Museum depicts the living and working conditions of a smallholder family on the Great Hungarian Plain. Alongside the church’s architectural history, this offers a perspective on everyday life, centred on a particular rural way of life. The museum is especially interesting for travellers who want to explore cultural experiences not only through architecture but also through depictions of life and work.

Birdwatching at the Kerek-fenék Tower

The Kerek-fenék birdwatching tower complements the cultural themes with birdwatching. In 2022, the visitor regulations of the Hortobágy National Park Directorate listed the tower among the nature trails that could be visited without an admission ticket. If you plan to visit the tower, please check the current conditions before your visit.
