Felcsút can be explored through three distinct themes: Kokas Ignác’s art, local history at the Tájház and an organised tour of the Puskás Akadémia. The Vál-völgyi Kisvasút narrow-gauge railway also has a stop in the village. A stay here therefore brings together art and history, architecture and a railway station whose building also has ties to an older railway line.

Kokas Ignác’s Art at the Memorial House

The Kokas Ignác Felcsúti Képtár is a dedicated memorial house for the works of Kossuth Prize-winning painter Kokas Ignác. It is housed in a farmhouse, where selected outstanding works from his estate are on public display. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by Kokas Ignác’s easel and a painting.

The large-scale paintings depict dreamlike visions through distinctive effects of colour and form. A chronological reference point is the 1967 self-portrait, which still shows a figurative style. Kokas Ignác later turned to non-figurative expression. Those interested in a painter’s development will find not only his works here, but also a concrete reference point for this stylistic shift. Visits can be arranged by appointment.

Local History at the Felcsúti Tájház

The Felcsúti Tájház presents the findings of local history research in an exhibition for interested residents and visitors. Residents of Felcsút contributed much of the material used to furnish it. The exhibition thus brings together local research and the community’s contribution to assembling the house.

An early chronological reference in local history is the Reformed congregation: the earliest surviving record of it dates from 1626. It names Nagyhalászi Pápa Gergely as the village’s first pastor. This reference adds a dated account of the congregation to the exhibition at the Tájház, without requiring one visit theme to be equated with another.

Architecture and Memories at the Puskás Akadémia

The official name of the organised tour of the Puskás Akadémia complex is “Puskás Akadémia-körút”. The tour introduces the key features of Imre Makovecz’s organic architectural style. The programme also includes memorabilia in the stadium display cases and a look back at Ferenc Puskás’s life. The tour therefore brings architectural design and football history together in a single visit.

During the tour, visitors can enter the football centre’s 200-year-old chapel. Advance registration is required for the visit. Check the operator’s current booking information before your visit; the tour should therefore not be planned without registering in advance.

Narrow-Gauge Railway and Station History

Felcsút station is a stop on the Vál-völgyi Kisvasút narrow-gauge railway and welcomes passengers there. The railway first began operating around five years before May 2021; its route runs along the boundary between Felcsút and Alcsútdoboz. To put the station in context, it is also worth looking at the building itself: it was formerly a station on the Székesfehérvár–Bicske line, which was closed in 1980.

Two distinct periods of railway history meet at the station: the former line, closed in 1980, and the Vál-völgyi Kisvasút, which has a stop in Felcsút. If you plan to take the narrow-gauge railway, check the operator’s timetable information in advance. Together with the fixed requirements for the tours, this will help you decide in advance which themes to include in your stay.
