Harsány combines a landscape of lakes with historical connections to the 18th century. One specific accommodation option in the village is Magtár Vendégház, with six apartments and space for 34 people. The lakes, travel connections and the history of the estate cellar offer different points of reference for planning your trip.

Lakes and landscape near Harsány

Harsányi Horgásztó is about 10 km from Miskolc, on the southern slopes of the Bükk Mountains. The lake system consists of three lakes arranged in a chain, formed by damming the Csincse stream. Together, they have 40 ha of usable water surface. Their location and formation describe a connected waterscape, not just a single pond.

The largest of the Harsány fishponds has a water surface of 20 ha and an average depth of 2.5 m. Its basin runs evenly parallel to the cross-dam; the bottom is obstructed in places. In addition to its size, the depth and nature of this pond are therefore specific features to consider. The area figures refer to different scales: the lake system as a whole and the largest fishpond.

Plan your accommodation and journey

Magtár Vendégház in Harsány has six apartments and can accommodate 34 people. The number of apartments and the total capacity provide two practical details for planning an overnight stay.

Harsány can be reached via the M3 motorway and the Emőd exit. It is about 150 km from Budapest. The road distance from Miskolc to Harsány is approximately 18 km. The distances have different starting points: Budapest for the longer journey and Miskolc for the shorter road connection. They indicate distances, not travel times.

Boating, hiking and cycling

At Harsányi Szabadidő- és Kalandpark, boating is available on Nádasvölgyi-tó. If you plan this activity, check in advance whether it will be available on the day of your visit. There is also a walking trail around Harsányi Horgásztó. This offers two different ways to experience the water: a boating option on Nádasvölgyi-tó and a trail around Horgásztó.

Fishing at Harsányi-tavak began in 2006. A designated 0.5 km section of cycle path runs along Dózsa György út. The fishing date places the start of this activity in its historical context; the cycle path information refers to a specific section. These details offer additional guidance for travellers interested in the development of fishing or designated cycle routes.

A historical connection to Eger

The large cellar on the estate in Harsány was enlarged between 1755 and 1759, at the same time as the Bishop's Cellar in Eger was expanded. This shared timeframe places the work in Harsány in a specific historical context alongside Eger. For the history of the village, it is therefore not just a single year, but a period of several years that can be pinpointed.

For technical reasons, Sópince is closed to visitors indefinitely. Check the latest access notice before planning a visit.
