Encs can be explored through a range of themes: church architecture, sports and food at Anyukám Mondta. When choosing where to stay, you might consider whether you would rather focus on culture, a sporting event or a restaurant visit.

Sports and Events at the Sportközpont

The Sportközpont in Encs serves as a multi-purpose hall for sports and events. The hall measures 44 × 22 metres and has marked courts for futsal, volleyball, handball and basketball. This means the indoor facilities cover a range of ball sports; if you are planning a particular activity, you can choose accordingly.

The Sportközpont also has two natural-grass pitches and one artificial-turf pitch. The natural-grass pitches measure 105 × 66 metres and 90 × 45 metres, while the artificial-turf pitch measures 44 × 22 metres. A running track encircles the larger natural-grass pitch. The indoor hall and the outdoor pitches of different sizes can therefore be considered separate areas of the facility.

Current availability may depend on making a booking. If you are planning to use the sports facilities or hold an event, check the current arrangements with the operator in advance.

Churches and Building History

A 2016 article describes a green setting in Encs where a Roman Catholic, a Greek Catholic, a Reformed and an Evangelical church stand close together. The four denominations give the group of churches a diverse character.

The Greek Catholic church in Encs was built in 1996 to plans by architect Bodonyi Csaba. Its architectural ensemble combines Byzantine style with modern architectural elements. Visits to this church are possible by prior arrangement. The Szent Anna Római katolikus templom is a modern, two-towered, single-nave church; it was built in 1999 to plans by Horváth Zoltán. The two churches offer different architectural themes: the combination of Byzantine and modern elements on the one hand, and the two-towered, single-nave form on the other.

Another historical layer tells the story of a medieval stone church in Encs. It was taken over by the Reformed in the 16th century. Later, Catholics built a new church using material from the church, which had fallen into ruin. This sequence adds a historical perspective on the town’s religious architecture to the more recent building dates.
