Füzesgyarmat offers three distinct points of interest for planning a trip: a thermal bath, architectural history, and local culture.

Thermal Bath and the Story of Its Discovery

The pools at Kastélypark Fürdő differ in temperature and water composition; bathing, relaxation, and recuperation are among their purposes. Check the bath’s current operating details before your trip. The thermal water was discovered in 1965 during drilling at a depth of 1,198 meters, at a temperature of 62 °C. The different pools and the story of the water’s discovery offer two distinct perspectives on the bath: relaxation and the origins of the thermal water. The campsite directly adjoining Kastélypark Fürdő is open year-round; check its current operating details before your trip if you plan to stay there.

Architectural History, Everyday Life, and Crafts

The Reformed Church of Füzesgyarmat is a listed building in the Zopf style, built between 1798 and 1803. It also has an electronic carillon. Its construction period, style, and carillon give the church a distinctive place in the town’s history.

The Tájház offers a glimpse into the living conditions of the town’s former residents. The distinctive thatched-roof building showcases their way of life in the past. The Szitás Erzsébet Képtár adds another cultural highlight: the gallery preserves more than 100 works by the artist.

Local craftsmanship also has a specific connection to carriage building. The Galambos Hintókészítő Műhely builds, among other things, ceremonial, trotting, marathon, and pleasure carriages, and also carries out repairs. The church, Tájház, gallery, and workshop therefore represent different themes, from architectural history and everyday life to art and crafts.

Events and Other Attractions in Békés

At the beginning of July, Füzesgyarmat holds the two-day Füzes Fesztivál each year. It commemorates the town’s receipt of town rights in 2000. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the dates for the relevant year.

The wider Békés travel destination also has independent nature attractions, distinct from the offerings in Füzesgyarmat. Körösvölgyi Animal Park is located in a 26-hectare grove. A walking trail of about two kilometers passes bird aviaries, animal houses, wetlands, and spacious enclosures.

The Jégmadár Water Nature Trail starts at the park’s pier. It follows a stretch of about one kilometer along the Szarvas–Békésszentandrás oxbow. Eight floating buoy stations introduce visitors to the oxbow’s flora and fauna. The trail is particularly suited to canoeists and rowers without an expert guide, and is accessible only by canoe or boat. The two nature attractions therefore differ in how you get around: a walking trail through the grove or a water trail using your own watercraft.
