A yellow-marked circular trail in Lakitelek-Tőserdő, interactive natural science and historical carvings give Lakitelek several distinct facets. There is also afternoon riding training and a footgolf park with its own nature trail.

Waterscapes along the Kontyvirág Nature Trail

The Kontyvirág Nature Trail is 3.5 km long, marked in yellow and laid out as a loop. Information boards accompany visitors as they explore an oxbow area and the floodplain forest. The landscape along the trail is shaped by the Szikrai and Alpári Holt-Tisza oxbows, along with the adjoining floodplain and swamp forests, floodplain marshes and wet meadows. The trail is impassable during major floods. During a high-water period, check local conditions before setting out.

Science, history and remembrance

The Hungarikum Exhibition House offers a different focus. Visitors can explore the world of natural science interactively, and a modern planetarium is used for stargazing; it is the eighth stargazing facility in Hungary. Those seeking science and stargazing will find a different focus here than on the Kontyvirág Trail, whose landscape is shaped by oxbows and floodplain forest.

The carvings on the “Leader's stone yurt” depict important events in Hungarian history, from the Avar period to Hungary's accession to the EU. St. Stephen's Chapel was built on secular rather than church initiative. Since June 2000, the Christian Pantheon in the square in front of the chapel has commemorated martyrs and believers of the historic churches of the Carpathian Basin. The carvings span a broad stretch of history, while the chapel and pantheon draw attention to the initiative behind the building and to remembrance.

Riding training and footgolf

Vaspatkó Riding Stable offers individual riding training in the afternoon to both external visitors and hotel guests. If you would like to include this activity in your day’s plans, take the afternoon training time into account. Nimród Footgolf Park covers 7.5 hectares and has an 18-hole footgolf course. On the park’s nature trail, visitors can learn about the history of the people who lived here, as well as the flora and fauna of the Alföld landscape. The same park thus brings together a course and a nature trail covering historical and ecological themes.
